well said. Couldn't agree more. Would also want to add that with Big review sites - there's only a single pov that comes out. Like if I like RPG games, I'm either going to be soft on it or too critical. that's why aggregator sites like N4g or metacritic give you a more wholeistic view.

having said that - end of the day, it's really up to the user to make a final call based on his/her research. Don't reference just one site, I mean at $40 a game, it's not really that cheap. Given that you'd buy at least 6-7 games in a year, you'd want the best bang for your buck!

they're there to serve as a measuring yard - but do the homework before buying. check youtube, game play vids, user reviews, etc etc. and then take a call if you'd like to buy that.

there are folks, who'll buy games, just because it's there. like for example, i have a friend who's a big spiderman fan - and he owns pretty much every spiderman game that came out to date. Similarly for WWE fans, most of them just bought it - because it was well..WWE (i'm one of them too) :)

so yeah, pros and cons of big gaming site reviews - but final onus rests on the buyer. What's that saying..."Caveat emptor" :))

That's a good point. To make use of the gameplay vids and do more homwork. I watch a lot of trailers and gameplay Vids myself. I guess that's another problem with the review scores though. That with so many games given between 7's and 9's it's hard to tell what really stands out from the pack when you're looking for a game worth playing...
