Why Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale Has Me Cold

I love Playstation a lot so you'd expect me to me bouncing up and down for their new brawler? No. For reasons why I will explain, All-Stars leaves me cold.

This ass clown didn't even play the game but once and it wasn't even the full game probably just beta teased ages ago obviously..

I don't even own it yet, so I can't judge it completely but at least I would wait to play the full version of the game first before making an entire article about how I don't think it's amazing.

Just kind of retarded.. Not surprising though in today's journalistic world.

Speaking of retarded, I'll throw my two cents in...

I got the game day 1 with PS3 and PSV crossbuy. I'm not the kinda person who plays a fighting game long term, but PSASBR has me hooked with all the unlocks. I just wish there were more game modes, maps and characters. I know characters and maps are coming, but game modes would be a brilliant addition. I can't recommend this game for everyone, but I like it.

Nintendo fan are really hating Playstation All-stars. you have to accept it this is a genre. the game is fun if you have friends to play with. alone it doesn't work with me, just like Fifa.

Both are great. The only thing I have to get used to in All Stars is the finishing moves. I'd prefer SSB damage count TBH.

For a first effort, it is quite good. They should be commended. Looking forward to the DLC's in January and hopefully a sequel/continuation in the future.

So this guy played a demo of the game earlier this year and "enjoyed" it.

He "enjoys" the demo of the game and was supposedly looking forward to it- but he never buys it.... Then he says Sony let us down because he didn't see marketing for it and the game wasn't a blockbuster sales success.

Somehow there's still this cognitive dissonance where people refuse to admit that they don't pay attention to gameplay, they pay attention to hype, marketing, and advertising. They'll buy a hyped game then get disappointed, but refuse to take a chance on anything remotely different if it isn't being shoved down their throat.

This game is amazing! I haven't put it down since it came out. I hate when people review games they haven't even played. I hate it even more when people review the game and give it bad marks because they suck at it. Yes, the battle system is different from Smash because guess what, It's NOT Smash Bros. I don't know why this is so hard to comprehend. If every First Person Shooter was a carbon copy of every other shooter, there would only be a need for one game in the FPS category because every other shooter would be a rip-off based on that logic. But obviously, even though there are many first person shooters, they each have unique elements. Smash and All-Stars are both brawlers, but each share unique attributes. All Stars revolves around using supers to get kills as opposed to dealing out percentage damage. It's a lot harder to "steal" kills like in Smash. I could be fighting a guy in Smash and get his percentage really high and some other guy could just come in and deal the finishing blow and take away all my work. You have to be offensively minded in this game to gain a super to gain a kill. I'm not smashing Smash because I like the game, but that's one point of difference. I own both Brawl and All stars but I prefer All Stars because the strategy for me is deeper. The comments on Smash are mostly directed towards people like ritsuka666 because the reviewer doesn't mention Smash much (Thank God)besides noting people call the game a clone.

The demo i played at Eurogamer this year was a very near final version, Eurogamer was the 29th October and the game was released mid-rememberer, so it was rather final.

Sony's slow marketing campaign has damaged their sales with the casual market i think. It is a good game and as i say, one that can be enjoyed with friends, so it will definitely appeal to the casual gamer but without the advertising, its just not reaching them.

I could have bought the game but i dont think Sony have released the game at the best time. The latter end of the year has been full of great games with my purchases going to Hitman, Assassins Creed III and Dishonored. All-Stars, from what I've played, isn't up to that quality.

I also didn't buy the game because from the demo i thought the characters seemed out of place in the cartoony universe. Sackboy fighting Kratos was surreal but it felt to silly and distant from what makes each Sony character so unique in their own right.

So, im not completely writing the game off, just saying how from my extensive demo playthrough, videos, previews etc, the game doesn't seem to be what i was expecting and what could have been achieved.

How didn't anyone see marketing for it? It had several kiosks for people to try it out. They took it on tour to several locations including gaming conventions and colleges. They had trailers and character announcements. They had have commercials going on on both Youtube and on television.I have seen both the live action and Robot chicken commercial several times on television. I never understand gamers at all you know. How is it Sony never advertises even when they do? I mean Uncharted 2 had lots of marketing and some idiot was still always gong on about how they saw no marketing for it. What does Sony have to do,whore every game out to everyone before you are satisfied?
