GungHo Online Entertainment America have today released their first batch of Japanese PS One Classics to the Playstation Network.

GungHo explained to DualShockers why Grandia HD Collection is only to coming to Nintendo Switch at launch and not PS4.
Sounds like an excuse, I don't think any current company mandates that a game be made in 4k. Plenty of 1080p only titles on the Xbox and ps4 if I'm not mistaken.
It's a dumb excuse all around. Plenty of games don't even bother with a 4K version of the game, and it can do checkerboarding without much effort on the pro. Plus, the graphics of the remaster aren't so advanced that it couldn't be done in native 4K on PS4, because it actually is capable. The game isn't exactly what i'd call taxing on the rendering process. The base PS4 doesn't have to support 4K to be a good game....and a dev shooting for that is worried too much about such things.
The people that would want to play it wouldn't care either way. I can't actually think of many JRPG's that were released in 4K in any capacity, and I don't see why it's not an issue for Switch, because that can run on a regular TV as well.
It would be nice to be in 4K I am not gonna lie, as I have a ps4 pro. I also have a SWITCH for work and mostly JRPG's so I will get it on SWITCH. I sucks that people that dont have a SWITCH has to wait and hope they undertake it as 4k.
I would have brought this day one on PS4....although I forgot it was being made until this cropped up. I think the excuse here is stupid though. Dunno if it's true, or if there is something else going on, but I'm not going to support it on Switch if there will possibly be a PS4 version later on, and their concern is more hitting 4K, than just providing the game to those who would want it. I have the originals either way if I really want to play it.
This sucks. Its not like im short of anything to play, but there are some older titles i can finally get a chance to play and they pull something like this.
Those are two bogus reasons to deprive the platform with largest audience for these type of games of this collection.

PS4 was revitalizing JRPGs long before Switch hit the scene. Even after Switch released there’s been plenty of JRPG titles that found success on PS4.

You know 4K isn’t even a requirement right? Majority of PS4 gamers don’t even use 4K. How you gonna just outright deny an entire user base of this software just because of an optional feature that only a select few even utilize?
yeah that's very odd.. I mean just let it be 1080p then. Plenty of PS4 games are 1080p only.

This company is just making excuses when 4K is not a requirement with Sony only giving you the option with support of it with Pro.

LOL. Yeah, I'm sure it'll be awesome when this is indicative of how so many games aren't getting made for PS4 because it doesn't support 4K, even though he's talking about base consoles.
