Wii U: Developer Reaction

Develop- Already out in the US as of November 18th and selling 400,000 units in its first week, Nintendo’s Wii U has also arrived today in the UK to much hype as the first in the next generation of consoles.

I think the devs will be able to easily adapt for wiiU. Show me some cool games. I hope they build Miiverse into their games like MarioU has, that would be swizz.

good read and its from actual developers not some guy on twitter.

I'm excited to see more indie projects appear on Wii U. So far, many of the eShop games have been pretty impressive and it'll be great to see that first impression expand into something bigger.

That reminds me, I need to steal my wife's credit card number so I can download Trine 2 and Nano Assault. Thanks for the reminder.

"In a way, the eShop has restored our faith in the potential of console downloadable games. We'll see how it goes in the next year.”

So NiN is charging 3rd parties next to nothing and giving developers freedom to do as they please? WOW! Now that is a smart move.

They also talk about how NIN does not micro manage. I love that idea when they are given the green light they are free to update and patch the games how they like.
Sony and MS watch out. ESP you MS!

I think it's better to leave games like AC: Amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash forgotten on the Wii U. Best case, they are mediocre games; worse case, they are very bad. It was a dark time for the Wii U, and the first only exists to sell Amiibo cards, whereas the second was put together in a couple of months with a shoestring budget, and it shows.

The rest of the list does have some really cool games, though. I would love to see a remake of Star Fox Zero with decent controls, and Xenoblade X doesn't require that much modification to work.

How would XCX work without dual screens functionality?

Cacabunga1d 17h ago

Same as Paper Mario color splash. One of the best wiiu games and getting even better with dual screen. Same reason why i prefer Splatoon 1

This article leaves out Nintendo's most controversial game to date devils Third.
I personally found the cover system really fun in that one compared to at the time most fps games completely lacking one.

Stevonidas1d 15h ago

Devil's Third is HIGHLY underrated.

repsahj1d 15h ago

They should remake Starfox to the switch 2. Very beautiful game during gamecube days.

Kirby is always ignored or forgotten by people, so good to see it mentioned here.
Play Kirby Canvas Curse on DS, and then play Rainbow Curse on Wii U, they're really fun and unique 'platformers' without any actual jumping.

BG3 has won everything possible. It's insane.

TGG_overlord1d 22h ago

That's right, well, BG3 deserved it imo.

anast1d 19h ago

It's definitely a game of the generation if not all time.

InUrFoxHole1d 19h ago

Sure buddy... You're trying to tell me it has a deeper story than goat 🐐 simulator 4000?!?!?. I wanna give bg3 a shot but my brain is burnt out on long games
