Ken Levine teases new surprises and information about Bioshock Infinite

DSOGaming writes: "Following Bioshock Infinite’s boxart reveal, Ken Levine, creative director and co-founder of Irrational Games, shared some new teases about Bioshock Infinite."

I'm surprised he didn't mention anything about the negative reception to the cover.

Nimblest-Assassin4155d ago (Edited 4155d ago )

Actually... Booker is on the front and Elizabeth is on the back, I like it

Jinkies4155d ago

They should of both been on the front with an old fashioned style look to it with Songbird in the background and the two sides of the war on opposite sides.

Mounce4155d ago

The cover should have more boobs to make it sell more.

Surely you'd know what I mean with an avatar like what you have. Jinkies.

asmith23064155d ago

He should have mentioned the petty retards who made such a fuss and how they have nothing better to do than bitch and moan about a cover.

Mounce4155d ago

I'd understand both sides. Having a bland cover isn't proper marketing or advertising of your product. Having something that stands out, makes it feel or look unique and is something that catches your eye or is something that you'll remember iconically for a long time afterwards.

Say for instance, I'd say Darksiders 1 sold really well was partly because of the boxart. There wasn't much information about the game publically, the marketing was nearly null, there were no ads for Darksiders 1 on TV last I remembered, talking about War and his quest. The boxart though? Was unique, it stood apart and to those say, Casual-players or people who aren't in the circle of knowledge of newest games. They may go to Blockbusters(Of what once existed) or any place, see the boxart and give it a shot because of that.

The boxart of This, Infinite, it'd probably in all honesty, hinder sales a bit more than it would boost sales by the comparison of Darksiders. Unless there's some excessive group of people who are completely attracted to bland, repetitively-used styles that look nothing apart from eachother on a row or stack of games at EB. AWE YEAH! FIRE-FLAG-COOL-GUY W/ A GUN! Most promising game evar! I'll buy 3! In the end, it won't help drive sales to those that don't know what the game is about. BELIEVE IT Orrrr not....People out there can be gamers, yet be so busy with life that the internet and gaming-research isn't a part of their life, they have a console or PC and just buy a game on minimal information and hope the images, the boxart and the back are enough to tempt them to try it. :l

"and just buy a game on minimal information and hope the images, the boxart"

If someone is dumb or wasteful enough to buy a game based on the cover art, then chances are, they're going to be the type of person who is going to like the generic and crappy burning-flag-gun-toting-tough guy-with-a-gun cover.

Anyone who knows anything about Bioshock will buy it regardless of the cover art.

I myself have a hard time believing that cover art can affect sales in any way beyond a few hundred people (if that), but if it does, I doubt the current art would be a hindrance to sales. Probably the opposite in fact.

Though I do agree, they should change the box art entirely, as I think it doesn't really fit the game and I don't like it. I just don't think it's going to negatively affect sales.

I can understand how people have come to hate the cover .. but it doesn't come close to the ugliness of bioshock 1 cover.

I swear if it weren't for the good scores that game had I wouldn't fucking bought it .. I had to stand for 10 minutes just to make my mind ( "what was this big doll in the cover? is he a robot ? am I going to play him.."that was what I thinking then )

so yeah I love the new genric cover .. it tells that you will be playing a badass game with badass dude with awesome guns .. and awesome graphics.

Hufandpuf4155d ago

It wasn't negative reception. It was mixed. Some people didn't like the generic style of it, others felt that it could attract more people toward the franchise that they otherwise would have missed because of "artistic box-art".

Seriously though, will a box cover stop you from buying this game anyway?

At least the box calls it "must have shooter" and doesn't try to mislead people into believing that it is related to the wonderfully artistic first game. Since it's just another shooter I guess I don't need to buy it. Such a shame.

Aww. so they're not using the VA behind Elizabeth. Such a shame, the developers actually made her cry during some scenes just to deliver the impact of emotions.

Top 10 Rarest Xbox 360 Games That Are Worth a Fortune

"And lastly, famous Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling helped to create the action-RPG’s setting. What’s really fascinating, though, is that the game was partially financed by taxpayers from Rhode Island (which allegedly lost the state millions of dollars). Yikes!"

1. Now infamous Schilling
2. No allegedly, it did. And they couldn't pay it back.
3. What really lost the money wasn't the SP release but the MMO they were working on. This was supposed to be an introduction into the MMO world.

Soy267d ago

I hate counting limited editions for these lists. I mean, they're made to be rare and expensive. It's far more interesting to hear about the NCAAs (even if most people know that one already) and the El Chavos than some massive hit that came with a $200 statue at retail.

gamerz267d ago

Me too. Here's the best I can do:

El Chavo Kart $90.14
NCAA Football 14 $87.72
Spiderman: Edge of Time $75.94
Spiderman Web of Shadows $75.09
Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions $67.76

Christopher266d ago

Wow, El Chavo Kart is not at all what I expected by the name. 100% looks like a Sackboy Kart game.

Soy266d ago

It's so odd that so many Spider-Man games are seemingly given lower print runs, even if they're not the best games.

Most Xbox games don’t hold as much value compared to other systems. Kameo, Blue Dragon, Last Remnant , and a handful or 2 of other games that I kept.

Fallout 3 and Bioshock Infinite are the rarest games of all time.

8 Best Games Set In A Multiverse

One of the biggest TV and movie tropes in the last decade has been the multiverse, the idea of exploring multiple dimensions to uncover alternate versions of existing ideas. From both a business and creative perspective, it makes sense why established franchises are shaking things up in this way.

However, there aren't many video games latching on to this trend, as rendering multiple worlds in real-time is a difficult feat and the medium is relatively young in comparison to its contemporaries, making crossover opportunities more difficult. Still, there are a few great titles that manage enough to overcome these challenges, and here are some of the best examples.

While I love someone mentioning Planescape, not really multiverse. Planes and dimensions, yes. But, they are typically their own locations and are very rarely tied to another 'verse' let alone another plane. The only things that are directly tied are the ethereal and material planes. Otherwise, they are dimensions created of their own design and goals by the creator/owner and not comprised of 'their own version of another dimension'.
