PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (PS Vita) Review | Gaming Bolt

gamingbolt.com: We all know just how much PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale was compared with Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. series before its release. And seriously, who can blame people for making the comparisons? Super Smash was clearly the inspiration- or competition- in Sony’s mind when they actually started working on the game. But while Nintendo’s Smash Bros. games are incredibly fun and absolute masterpieces, Battle Royale fails to impress in any way possible and comes across as bland and boring

Since when is complex in a fighting game bad a con? Its very easy to pick up and play but hard to master if you expected a party game like smash your at the wrong adress.

reminds me of the gamespot review. Sometimes i believe that these so called "Professional Reviewers"
arent even Gamers at all

jukins4163d ago

Wow what a bad review. The reviewer bashes the complexity but says he likes street fighter and the like. The they say the roster is hit or miss but knocks it for not having Nathan halo (who?!?! Nathan hale) yea he is so wanted but didn't even star I. The last resistance. And who the hell wanted Sev from kill zone fine with radec. Oh well seems like another chance for the media to knock Sony I'm enjoying the hell out of this game.

Majin-vegeta4162d ago

Oh he mad cuz he can't do these.

These game is is addicting as hell especially when you try to learn combos. This reviewer just sucks at it plain and simple.

jukins4162d ago

exactly there seems like there's lot of little ways just like in street fighter to branch off of moves to keep combos going. I keep finding out neat little tricks for nearly every move a character has, and i've only gotten good enough with sir dan and good cole so far. Maybe next generation if sony doesnt mess up the console launch people wont hate them so much for whatever reason and they'll actually get the praise they deserve. Its amazing much slack sony got after the ps3 launch even though all things considered it was still a good deal at $600 when bluray players were $800-$1000.

I'm having so much fun with this game and have barely scratched the surface. This game deserves at least an 8.0 IMO, It's hard to see how people could score it so low. I guess 6.5 isn't an awful score but mediocre this game is not.

Oh well back to playing PSASBR, and learning combos with my main squeeze Toro!

MizTv4162d ago

I don't use toro but I must say I do think ha is MADD funny

jukins4162d ago

yea toro seems interesting does his Circle moves when he goes behind the curtain change his moves for all buttons or is it just a few moves. I tried practicing with toro and just couldnt get the hang of it because it seemed like i was changing characters.

zgoldenlionz4162d ago

Changing costumes will affect the triangle buttons only the square moves stay the same but don't be afraid to use the behind the current moves in your combos cause they still do moves in the direction your aiming the d-pad like the up move is still an uppercut so it's a little tricky to get down but gets a lot of fun when you get the hang of it.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Launched 10 Years Too Early

Though PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale is a bit of a cult classic, it could have been a big hit if it launched in 2022 instead of 2012.

It wouldn't have mattered, Sony would've rushed it out and left it to die. More so now than before with their focus now being on SP narrative driven AAA games.

CrimsonWing69520d ago

Oh, but somehow Smash Bros. 64 made it work?

It just couldn’t compete with Smash Bros. and it wasn’t a free-to-play game like Multiversus.

PapaBop520d ago

I think it released at the right time. It's just after the success of Smash and Multiversus, it's finally time for a sequel.

spoonard520d ago

I'd be all in on a remake or remaster of the original. I enjoyed it because I didn't sit there and compare every aspect to SSB. I just enjoyed it as it was.

Magatsuhi520d ago

Sony should make part 2 and dump a good amount of money on it. Scrap super only kills and it's bound to succeed.

Father__Merrin520d ago

Yes the power kills spoilt it completely WTH was they thinking you should have hp bar that's it

God of War: Ragnarok Weirdly Makes PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Canon

God of War: Ragnarok has plenty of fun references to PlayStation history, but now fans have discovered a conversation that calls back to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale — the crossover fighting game released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Nyxus527d ago

I wouldn't say canon. More like an easter egg.

Deathdeliverer526d ago

That’s interesting. It actually does make it canon lol. He mentioned it in a mainline game. I’d say that’s pretty cool.
