GamesBeat: Writer Rumble is a vicious but therapeutic exercise for former English majors (review)

GamesBeat's Giancarlo Valdes: "Armed with only her parasol, author Jane Austen doesn’t look like a formidable fighter. But that didn’t stop her from beating my magnifying glass-wielding champion Agatha Christie with a torrent of three-, four-, and five-letter words. In some weird way, I felt like this was my punishment for not finishing Pride and Prejudice back in college."

Writer Rumble Review | Warp Zoned

Warp Zoned writes:

"Writer Rumble is the first game that GameFly, the video game version of Netflix, has produced. The premise of the game is very simple: choose a character and get ready to play Boggle (or Scramble With Friends) as a variety of monsters make their approach. Sticks and stones won’t break their bones, but words do have the power to destroy them. As you quickly search for words in the board area, keep an eye up top as well where the “action” is taking place, and make sure you’re keeping pace with all the ghouls headed your way."

The person who did this review doesn't seem to have a grasp of all the commands in the game.. you aren't limited to just one board in the Survival mode, you can switch it whenever with that button that looks like an infinity symbol.

The rest of their criticisms are valid gripes if this isn't your kind of game, though. I'm also of the mind that it's way easier to play this on iPad than it is on the phone/touch devices because of the amount of detail and stuff on the screen compared with the amount of space given to the tiles.

IGN-Writer Rumble Review

IGN:Writer Rumble is a great little game, adding a unique slant to the letter scrambler category with its charming style and a nod to people’s bookish nature. The game feels incomplete without asynchronous gameplay and rounds can sometimes end in a flash, but seeing a lovingly cartoonish illustration of Cthulhu sending volleys of “word-punches” at Jane Austen is extremely entertaining nonetheless.

Writer Rumble's Multiplayer Makes Word Games Intense

1up - Online multiplayer action more than makes up for an unremarkable single-player.
