Stand out for me. All for the N64

WCW/NWO World Tour

WCW/NWO Revenge

WWF Wrestlemania 2000

WWF No Mercy

Classics.

THE_MACGREGOR4157d ago

GREAT LIST THERE BUT I PREFER
1.WCW/NWO REVENGE
2.WWF WRESTLEMANIA 2K
3.WWF NO MERCY
4.WWF ATTITUDE
5. WCW/ NWO WORLD TOUR

And if you wanted to . ECW's take on WWF attitude
with ECW's Hardcore Revolution.

redgr814157d ago

My top wrestling games are
WCW vs the world ps1- Introduced the game engine that would become WCW vs NWO, WWF No Mercy
2. WWF Warzone ps1- Not a great game but introduced full enterances and was first WWF 3d game really revolutionary for the time but insane button combinations DOSENT STAND THE TEST OF TIME
3. WWF No Mercy N64- You can group all the N64- games here (WCW world tour, WCW vs NWO, WWF Wrestlemania 2000) but I give a slight edge because of the roster
4. WWF Wrestlefest Arcade- Just awesome so simple 2 button but fun as it can get

Sega's own Giant Gram 2000 (All Japan Pro Wrestling 3) for Dreamcast. That one was and is still a fun game. I still play it with my friends on some weekends. Lots of laughs and tons o'fun.

Smackdown heres comes the pain is awesome funny, you cant help but feel anything can happen in that game.

I think that moreover comes from the options that HCTP had compared to newer titles.

Being able to freely move around to different backstage areas was the greatest part of HCTP in my opinion. You weren't just restricted to set locations & dynamics backstage were much better than they are now.

Fighting in Times Square always made my day better. Was fun to climb up high above the street and fight it out. F5'ing someone from up there and sending them through a car, only to take the opportunity to Five Star Frog Splash your opponent from way up high always felt gratifying.

I always thought the double button counter system was better too. Having one button to counter grapples and one button to counter strikes made the player consider what the computer or their opponent was going to do next rather than just spamming one button and hoping for the best.

Plus getting your CAW to max stats took work. You didn't just throw together a CAW & Move Set then allocate stats. After having your CAW & Move Set in place, you had to go play matches to earn the stats your character had. While it took forever to max out characters that way (100 was top stat possible unless you had an unknown gender character to which you could get them to 101)getting to that point meant you put a lot of work into that character, giving one a better sense of pride in their CAWs.

I really wish THQ'd drop the new bullshit titles they're producing in excess of two to three years in advance for systems that aren't even out yet or completely confirmed and remake the classics. Give people a HD HCTP or earlier titles and watch how they sell compared to new ones. Add online and you've got an even better experience that wasn't there before. If they could find a way to add in things like custom titles & such from newer titles they'd have the solid product WWE games could've been all along.

Are Wrestling Games Getting Worse?

Some of you may know that the latest instalment in the WWE gaming franchise 2K20 was released late last year to generally poor reviews. Some of this was based on graphical issues, but mostly it was due to the many glitches and bugs found – many of which are hilarious to witness.

Fire Pro needs more love. The last PS4 title gets regular playtime from me.

I hear that there are financial troubles at the studio, but I'm hopeful for a Switch port one of these days.

The Wood1552d ago

Anyone remember Giant Gram Wrestling on the Dreamcast .....

Rambokind1552d ago

Ah hell yes! That was loads of fun.

Acecalibur1553d ago

Fire Pro just gets better. Buy it.

micdagoat191553d ago

I have Fire Pro for PS4 and PC but it seems more of like a Sim creator rather than people actually playing out matches. I still dont like anything as much as the N64 games

Golden Era of wrestling games in the Golden Era of wrestling. I've been contemplating going back and getting a N64 and getting those classic's
WWF Wrestlemania 2000
WWF No Mercy
WCW vs. nWo Revenge

micdagoat191549d ago

Yeah its the only wrestling games I still play consistently for fun.

TheTony3161553d ago

Yes. The last great wrestling game was svr 2006.

addictedtochaos1553d ago

Yes, the WWE ones at least. The last good one was 2K14 and the last great one was Here Comes the Pain.

Thq and AKI stopped making the games. The N64 games were the best

fad6323003d ago

couldn't agree more, think it was No Mercy which i liked the best, although I remember the WCW NWO game being very good also.

In its current carnation it will never top the N64 games

3-4-53003d ago

WWE 12 was the last good wrestling game.

WeAreLegion3003d ago

I'll tell you where they went right. WWE All-Stars freakin' rules.

Ruggadagod3003d ago

You can obviously tell they got lazy.

showtimefolks3003d ago (Edited 3003d ago )

IMO the story aspects became the worst. the universe mode isn't as good as the GM mode(imo)

commentary is really bad
enemy ai isn't good neither is hit detection

instead of putting effort into single player story all we have gotten are past glory moments. i mean we are basically watching replays of old matches

i am surprised we didn't get a true wwe vs wcw game

the one wwe game few years ago with wcw story line was good(i had fun with story mode atleast)

here comes the pain
shut your mouth
day of reckoning
no mercy

are some of the best wwe wrestling games

vanity293003d ago

all these years and no real ragdoll physics to make selling moves look different either. 2k15 and 16 have like halfassed ragdoll.

nevin13003d ago

It's funny how you mentioned modern games problem being story related.

But then mentioned

here comes the pain
shut your mouth
day of reckoning
no mercy

HCTP, SYM and No Mercy was cherished by its gameplay.

Its seems alot of people these days are more interested in stories in videogames then the actual game. Gameplay should be number 1.

roxette923003d ago

wwe 2k14 was the last great release gameplay wise. wwe 2k16 still has the annoying chain grappling.

showtimefolks3002d ago

nevin1

they could have a bad story but still a original story. these past wwe games have moments from past like 30 years of wrestlemania and attitude era

i rather just get original stories and that's just my personal opinion
