LEGO The Lord Of The Rings on PS Vita disappoints: are developers taking Vita seriously?

PSU looks at why the PlayStation Vita port of LEGO The Lord Of The Rings is so poor compared to its console counterpart.

It worries me that some developers do seem to be doing a half-arsed job on PS Vita titles. Black Ops Declassified really could have been something to make naysayers sit up and take notice, but they royally cocked that up.

2013 better bring home the bacon!

No need to worry. You are allowing the drama queens antics of the media get to you. The vita has been out barely a year. These games are first generation games. There are plenty of good ones available so just skip the bad ones. Go back and check out some first year games on the the xbox 360, ps3 or wii. Plenty of turkeys there.

Not every developers are created equal. Give the games time! Jebus I swear gamers, people in general are just so impatient these days.

What are you saying? Xbox had great games in its first year.

Thing is, in regard to the LEGO games - the PSP suffered the same fate as the Vita did Batman 2 and LotR.. terrible terrible ports with no regard to the specs of the machine.

LEGO Star Wars II, Indiana Jones 1 and Batman 1 on the PSP were exactly the same as they were on 360/PS3. Then TT Games handed over the handheld duties to TT Fusion (who primary work on the DS) Every LEGO game that followed, Indy 2, Harry Potter, Star Wars III, PotC - were just god awful ports of the DS with nothing new added to the PSP versions that could've handled the games with no problem.

A new console receiving rushed ports in it's first year?
Get out of town.

medziarz4163d ago

both the 3DS and PSV versions are the same and very bad, it's just the industry ignoring the handheld market - it's not something new, the same thing was with PSP and DS, both systems were simply abandoned by western 3rd party which was and still is too busy making PS360PC huge budget games, even if they often turn out as commercial failures

Game sucks I bought the Vita for the same games the ps3 has and I will never buy any games ported from the 3ds

izumo_lee4163d ago

Didn't i hear that the Vita version of this game is basically a port of the 3DS version. Of course the game is going to be less than than the console cause developers want parity so if the 3DS is going to be lead platform than the Vita is going to suffer cause of that.

I keep hearing the Vita is so easy to develop for & port games to, i find it disappointing that developers are taking the easy route out. The 3DS is a great handheld but we all know the 'horsepower' in the system is just not up to par with the Vita.

Yes they were 3DS Versions, and any features added were minimal. And that's the problem. I love the Lego games, played my first one earlier this year on the PS3, then got HP5-7 on the Vita and I was like WTF. The Vita is powerful enough to handle the console experience of these games with no problem, but the developer just doesn't care to make that effort, possibly due to the install base of the Vita. I purchased HP5-7, Batman 2, and LOTR for the Vita for $10 each, and that's the most I would ever spend on them unless they actually offer up a better experience.

“The Lord of the Rings is one of few franchises that the Total War franchise has represented, but did so with both grace and flair.”

Is anyone gonna tell him that it’s not a really game? Kinda embarrassing, makes me think he hasn’t even played his “best” game.

I really enjoyed the first BFME game. At some point I became unable to play it. Wouldn't even start. Been many years since I tried getting it to run.
