I like the Wii U, but I think the size is smaller than the PS3 and 360 because it still doesn't play DVDs. Now I know there is netflix and other streaming services on the WiiU and coming, so it really doesn't make a difference to some. But I still purchase DVDs and Blu-rays.

The lack of playable dvds didn't stop me though.

Also COD:BO2 is not next Gen, It's current gen no matter what console it's on. That includes all the ports the console got. Same as the ports the next Sony and Microsoft console will get. The only game that are next Gen are the ones not on any other console that is 6-7 years ago.

How is the anchor Biased? I see it as a way to get Reggie to talk about the specs of the console. Reggie is the one that came out and said third party titles like Call Of Duty BO2 is better on the Wii U. Can you really blame him though. He avoided the question and put himself in that situation. He should of said the console is not on par with current Gen consoles and the games to come will like better than what we have seen before.

This site seems a little biased, but what do I know. Its just my opinion.

" but I think the size is smaller than the PS3 and 360 is because it still doesn't play DVDs"

WHAT?

DVD playback is more of a software issue. The disc drive is there. It reads DVD formats ( wii discs ) and it reads its own type of disc ( not sure if it's blu ray or not. No one really confirmed it).

But it's irrelevant to the hardware size. It's simply the lack of software( especially Codecs ).

There was a Wii application that allowed you to run DVD movies. It was just a third party software.

You thought wrong mate.
I don't know everything about hardware. But that made no sense whatsoever.

OT:
It's not clear whether the article is satirical or real...

Godchild10204161d ago (Edited 4161d ago )

I said I think. I know nothing about the tech inside of the Wii U or any other console, so that's why I said that. I still don't understand why it's not native for the console, if it's next Gen.

The Wii U makes 2 steps forward, but the lack of DVD and/or CD playback is a step back in this day and age. Even if the games are in the DVD format, my movies still don't play on it. And if you are a Netflix user you know not all movies can be streamed.

Thepcz4160d ago

i thought it was obvious it was sarcastic. i mean, its written by a sheep character.

so its obviously a play on the 'hardcore nintendo fan'

iamnsuperman4160d ago

"It's not clear whether the article is satirical or real..."

I agree. I was suspicious towards the end of the article as it got more ridiculous (size comparison) but in general it isn't clear until I read the writer's profile.

Jdoki4160d ago

@Godchild1020

The reason DVD playback is missing is one of cost. To add that functionality requires various licensing agreements for stuff such as codecs etc. Means Nintendo can shave the costs a bit more.

On topic. Not sure what the article is getting at. Last gen the Wii had lower specs than the PS3 and 360, and yet sold the most. If the games are good I doubt the customers are going to care. The WiiU does something out of the box that Sony and MS can not do without additional hardware.

People need to stop seeing 'generations' as hardware specification pissing matches, and start looking at what actually makes a generational step (services, games, innovation AND graphics etc).

The WiiU is now HD - that will be enough for many people.

The only thing that I can guarantee from the PS4 and Next Xbox are higher development costs and more studios going out of business.

Wow...

<Raises Hand>

Question for the author <Ahem...clears throat>

How far do you have your hand up Nintendo arse?

Seriously, how can people be trolls and haters when he said something which wasn't true on live TV to sell the companys product. Don't try and twist it around like he was in the right because he wasn't.

"However, the internet (always trying to destroy and belittle Nintendo) said he was “lying”."

Lol...you obviously havent seen the doom and gloom articles on Sony have you, at this rate N4G will have it's own Sony Doom and Gloom tag.

When Nintendo messes up, you speak out, why is it we must always give Nintendo the benefit of the doubt. It's not hating or trolling when you don't agree with something a company does, it just tells you that your not a blind fan at the end of the day.

ChickeyCantor4161d ago (Edited 4161d ago )

We all know Nintendo makes their consoles for themselves in mind. Then there is the factor of the japanese market.

Then you have reggie who glues all the marketing together to make it work for USA.

Then there is Europe which just have to go with whatever Reggie seems to promote. Yet we seem to get some Japanese games ( eventually being translate ).

The TV functionality or streaming features are completely useless to me. I don't watch tv.

So at the end of the day; I just need my first party games(F-zero, metroid, zelda). Third party exclusives ( bayoneta/monsterhunter etc) and other games if they are worth the cash.
Else I have my pc for multiplats.

The article writer is extreme. I just hope It's satire. But even him as a fanboy can't be this blind to the Nonsense Nintendo is pulling every generation.

Wii U just got released. I will give it at least 1.5 years before I make my full judgement.

MegaLagann4161d ago

Apparently you didn't read the part about it being a parody. Nothing gets by you, apparently.

Jinkies4161d ago

Fair enough...but really whats the point of doing paraody articles. This a news site for actually news/opinions, not a joke fest.

chadboban4160d ago

@Jinkies
I dunno, some of the comments that I see on a daily basis really do make me believe that here is a "joke fest" sometimes.

“In terms of specs, the Wii U is pretty much on par with the Xbox 360 and the PS3"

yeah on par with 7 year old hardware

Argil4160d ago

On paper, the Wii U seems to be much more powerful than X360/PS3, in spite of tiny CPU and slowish DDR3 RAM. The huge GPGPU should, theroetically, be more important than the CPU.

Unfortunately, this is only on paper so far. Even the 2D games run in 720p only. I can't understand why.

It's up to Nintendo to demonstrate that the Wii U is more powerful than current gen.

Jadedz4160d ago

Control wise, it's the best version. Wiimote & nunchuck support, Off tv play with the gamepad, classic & pro controller support - there's a bundle of play styles for the Wii U version.

chadboban4160d ago

Wow, you guys are taking a "Parody" article seriously huh?

It's kinda sad that even when someone is joking, it's so similar to the behaviour of actual fanboys that we actually take them seriously. I guess I can see things more clearly since I'm pretty much sick of this idiotic console war and the fanboy bullcrap that comes with it.

Looking Ahead: The Lingering Questions About the Next Mario Kart

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "10 years. It’s been almost 10 years since the last mainline release in the Mario Kart series. Mario Kart 8 came out for the Wii U in 2014 and became the best-selling game for the system by a sizeable margin, and later pulled the same magic trick on the Nintendo Switch under the stage name Deluxe. All in all, it's sold nearly 70 million copies over the last decade and is still selling like hot cakes to this day, so it’s no wonder Nintendo has been in no rush to replace it. However, with rumors of a new system being just around the corner, and reports a few years back that a new Mario Kart is indeed under way, it seems the era of 8 might very well be drawing to a close. It’s an exciting prospect to be sure, but after two Nintendo systems with Mario Kart 8 at their heart, a lot of questions remain about how Nintendo will choose to follow it up."

I hope they just keep building on Mario Kart 8; Add a track-creation tool, and probably open it up to more Nintendo IPs with new tracks and characters, so Metroid, Punch Out, Starfox, Animal Crossing, etc etc.

gold_drake5d ago

there wont be a new one until the switch 2 comes out.

nintendo needs their bangers early on
