I like my Wii U, but Reggie is such a used car salesman, PR man and injury lawyer all rolled into one. If he was homeless he'd tell you he needs $20 to get home to his 5-year-old daughter's funeral (note: I work for a charitable org and this happens from drug users all the time).

The Wii U is comparable on its multiplatform titles, which is a good thing, but it has not proven itself to be "dramatically better". Even more BS, Reggie said in an E3 interview with Geoff Keighley that Wii U would have a trophy/achievement system. When asked by Keighley about it he said "We'll have all that".

Like I said, I like my Wii U and the potential of Zelda, Metroid and other Nintendo exclusives on it, but I do not like being lied to. It's not about graphics, it's about telling the truth and ethical behavior by a company. Nintendo needs better, more likable PR people here in the US. I know I will get hammered by some people, but Reggie has lied and skirted every question thrown at him unless the answer was "praise Nintendo".

There is a side by side comparison with the WiiU and 360 versions of Black Ops 2.

The WiiU version was proven to be graphically identical to the 360 version but with about 30% LOWER framerates.

The 360 version averages 60fps
The WiiU version averages 42fps

Not only is the WiiU version not better, it is not even equal.

I'm actually agreeing with you, but have a bit more to add.

Not only is the Wii U version of Black Ops 2 not as good as the 360 version, but it isn't as good as the PS3 version.

Everyone knows the PS3 version of every Call of Duty game is a bad port. Nintendo fanboys have called this and just about every other game that has been ported a bad port, but let me ask you fanboys something. If the PS3 and the Wii U versions of Black Ops 2 are bad ports, and the PS3 version runs considerably better, doesn't that make what all the devs saying how weak the Wii U is seem true?

Can't really argue with that. It's not like the 360 and PS3 have equal versions and the Wii U was the only bad port. It and the PS3 are bad ports but the Wii U version is much worse.

When a 2012 console MAY have the potential to look SLIGHTLY better than a 2005 and 2006 console, there's a problem.

We're not asking for ultra 4K HD, 64xQ MSAA'd games with DirectX 13, supersampling and ray tracing. But how can games like Arkham City, released over a year ago (and as such, with plenty of time for optimization for the WiiU console) look better on a 7 year old console?
Framerate drops, textures failing to load, no improved resolution, no improved textures, no DX11-like tessalation, no Nvidia-like PhysX... All that's "improved" (lol) are a couple of armored (read: shiny) parts on Batman and Catwoman.

Of course, this criticism applies to most WiiU games, this just being an example. ZombieU looks worse than most modern FPS from a technical stand point and NintendoLand hardly impresses with... ...well, anything. If the system needs more time to mature, well, that's a problem, seeing as how the competition is litteraly just around the corner. And if said competition makes the console look ancient (and as such, the flow of 3rd party games [ie: ports] stops), there will be a sever problem for the users. After all, how many years are you willing to wait (again) for a Zelda game? The Wii didn't get it until it's last year. You willing to wait that long with your WiiU?

I get that Deku-Johnny. The problem I'm trying to explain is that, if next gen REALLY improved graphically, it'll simply not be viable to port a game to an inferior console.

The need for devs to give the controller screen some use is already something slightly off-putting from a developlment stand point. If you also need to make a 2nd separate version of the game for it to run on the WiiU, after a certain point, it won't pay off. (Think of the Madden games when they were still released for PS2. At the time, PS3 adoption was at an all time low and the games would sell, thus, they kept making them. The second that slim ps3 released [and as such, the mass market adopted the ps3 console], ps2 ports of games stopped) The only person who is affected by this is, you, the consumer.

Yes, no doubt about it, once devs get used to the WiiU archtechture, there WILL be great games. Problem is, as I previously mentioned, time. Most devs (save for 1st party, obviously) will simply not stick around that long and develop games for a console with specific needs. It happened to the Wii (which is why it hardly received 3rd party love) and will (well, could) happen to the WiiU.

Games are developed on PC's. As such, a PC port is hardly ever a problem. From there, some optimization and work is required, but the next step is the ps3 and 360, whose architechture they are familiar with. (look at what happened when the devs WEREN'T familiar with the PS3's CELL. No games, crap ports, dead console [at the time]. Cue PS3 HAS NO GAMES jokes). The PS4 won't go the same route as the PS3's mistakes, they WILL make it easy to develop for. Same goes for 720. But the WiiU? The 2nd screen alone is already a development and bug testing nightmare if you use it for anything more than menus or some basic function, at which point it's nothing more than a gimick.

Accelerometer, touch screen, motion controls, etc. All these things have to be developed and tested, there's no PORT TO Wii/WiiU button. There's a reason why there's no 3rd party games on Wii, why PS Move is dead and why Kinect games all suck. The resources needed to make these things work severly outbalance the payoff. And, I don't know about you, I'd rather have that attention, manpower and time put into polishing the games, bug testing and optimization than into some gimick a company is paying extra for.

None of the next gen consoles won't be able to run Nvidia Physx, they won't be a huge improvement over the Wii U, only fanboys are saying that. They will be better, yes, but unless sony's and microsoft's consoles get released in 2014 or have a 500+$ price tag, you won't see an improvement as big as you think.

But I'm certain the new consoles will have at least 1080p and MAYBE some DX11 effects like tesselation. But if you use an effect like HBAO it will make consoles crawl.

The moment the competition reached some fighting chance price and motion controls were no longer on trending topics between soccer moms, Wii was doomed, anyone who would walk into a store and no longer be impressed by the Wiimote would just look at what was being shown at the screen... It's not surprising any more to see company's out and out lie to make themselves look better. EvilDead360 just reminded me of the fiasco last year at CES where Microsoft lied prior to their financial report, and then their financial report proved they lied. They splashed a big "over 66 million 360 users!" then they clarified after it was over 66 million 360's sold, and when the financials were revealed a few weeks afterwards they were busted as they had not actually even shipped 66 million units to retail. Close, but pants on fire. It would have been simple to just tell the truth and claim "over 65 million sold!" but hey - what's a rounding error between friends? And then there was the "Best 360 year EVAR!" claims afterwards when they stuffed the channels during the holiday season and the 3 months after that shipments shockingly dropped 50% year over year. Yeah, no channel stuffing going on there. When it was all said and done, they got to boast about the best 360 calendar year ever, when the fiscal year actually showed 360 sales dropped from the previous year. Although, there they weren't actually lying, they were just doing their PR job by framing the numbers in the best light possible, like how they go on about US numbers ever single month but don't say boo about ww numbers.

And who could forget when Microsoft stuck to their lie for well over a year that hardware failure rates were well within industry standards before having to admit their problem. It was later revealed by insiders that they new there were huge hardware issues coming off the assembly line.

But hey. They all do it. Nintendo is off base this time, next time it'll be MS claiming false European numbers, the time after that it'll be Sony lying about why there's no rumble in their controllers.

The Wii U version of Black Ops 2 is a slight improvement on the other versions, it is capable of much more but as third party developers haven't had the time as of yet to utilize everything the console is capable of. Something along the lines of that, then at least he would be stating facts.

COD games haven't changed graphics engines since World at War (as far as Treyarch and Moneyvision go) but if you compare a game like Ps3s Killzone 2, it still beats out every call of duty out on the market in terms of graphic quality.

My girlfriend bought us a Wii U Deluxe Console this week and I honestly didn't want one AT ALL, she really REALLY wanted it for Mario. Most likely even easily the BEST Survival Horror expierence in the past 10 years!

Well I haven't played Black Ops 2 on Wii U yet, but after playing through both versions of Assassins Creed 3, I have to admit the Wii U version looked and ran better. There wasn't all the pop in and draw distance that was evident with the PS3/360 versions.

Obviously, he's going to hype his console up, but I just don't like hearing these outrageous claims when the Wii U is barely on par with 2005/6 consoles. Not impressive.

Maybe the Wii U will shine in time, but right now there's no way I'd buy one. I'm sure there will be some excellent first party games, but I'm done with Nintendo until they can start appealing to me again like they did with the GC and N64.

Nintendo's biggest problem is not only providing ancient tech, but getting third party support. There's no question, Nintendo will support the Wii U with first party titles, but once the PS4 and the next Xbox come out next year/early 2014, I'm not sure if they'll be able to attract as many third party developers.

The game does look better though in many instances than the 360 version. The PS3 version is the worst looking version of the game, but lets all be honest here. The differences, graphically between the 3 console versions really is negligible.

The 360 version was the standard platform and not optimized for PS3 or Wii U.

All in all though, this is classic PR. But When any of the figure heads speak, they all lie and tell half truths, half lies and the like.

This isn't limited to Nintendo. But I expected better. Wii U should sell on its factual merits, not lies.

In checking out Lens of Truth's review of COD:BO for all the systems, the WiiU holds up fairly well considering this the first COD for a Nintendo Console. Regardless of what system you are playing they are almost identical. And what I mean by identical is that if you are playing the game any graphical differences are so minor that for most gamers the difference won't be noticed and will not effect a gamer's experience.

I did notice that the WiiU does have a lower FPS compared to the other 2 systems. The 360 had a 15% higher FPS and the PS3 was around 7%. Again this won't effect a gamers experience. It was noticed that the WiiU has no screen tearing, a plus for the Wii U but again no real impact on gameplay. Lower FPS, no screen tearing...a wash.

Regardless of the various sites and the graphical comparisons, Reggie was pulling a fast one by saying that COD:BO "looks dramatically better" on the Wii U. I don't see the "dramatic" difference. I personally think that all versions of COD:BO are comparable and the differences are minor.

Wii U has some potential but claims like this on a national news site can backfire on Nintendo.

i don't see any difference from any PS3 or Xbox360 exec/rep saying the game looks good on them, or saying their product is better than others. it's not lying, it's called marketing. given a scenario where each company rep is asked
to comment regarding BLOPS 2 in their console, what answer would you get, naturally that it looks good on their product. no one will dare say, "oh hey, theirs look better than ours", otherwise you get fired.

The reason for this post is in direct response to the video uploaded showing the WiiU's inability to run framerates as high or as consistently with the PS3 or Xbox360. Regardless of those stating that the WiiU has not been optimized yet, the PS3 and the Xbox360 are 7 year old machines. The 360 graphics card is comparable to a HD1950. or a 7900GTX. These cards are obsolete in the PC arena. The problem I see with the WiiU is that seven years after the 360 has been released they cannot manufacture a product that can run parallel to a system with a 7 year old graphics card. To me that is unacceptable, especially when asking for 300 dollars for the console. I have a six year old gtx 260 that can run cod black ops 60fps at 1650x1050. So why is it that this machine cannot run black ops 2 smoothly? Why is Reggie sitting here lying when the gaming community knows the truth? Why Nintendo never officially released the specs of the GPU? The reason is because they have sold consumers a product that does not have the performance to compete and tablets and phones will render it obsolete within months. While I am a fan of Nintendo, releasing a system that would ultimately become a gimmick or loved solely by Nintendo fans undermines the development of technology; motivating 3rd party publishers to push there product forward. Just like the Wii, I think Nintendo will lose ground in the console space. Nintendo needs to get back to its roots from the SNES and the N64 days where quality graphics and quality games garnered mass appeal. Gimmicks only go so far and without a qualified visual upgrade, it will only last so long. If there was a cute girl on the street and she can do back flips we would be captivated until a beautiful WOMAN in a red dress walks by and stares into your soul. That is what visuals can do. Just look at Hitman on the PC or The Last of Us on PS3. The truth is WiiU hardware is lacking and I doubt it makes it beyond 2 years. IMO. I am a fan of gaming and it concerns me that Reggie would lie to the public. There is a reason and its the hardware of the WiiU.
