Game Rant: "Black Ops 2 is an easy recommendation and they’ll find a large amount of content and fun in the game’s campaign, zombies mode and multiplayer. The GamePad is sufficient for a quality gaming experience, but for competitive play, a Pro Controller may be required. It’s a pretty game with the same high-end presentation values the series is expected to deliver, but for hardcore/veteran players, there are reasons to not make the switch from your current platform preference to the Wii U."
GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 leap up due to summer sales
Wow, good games never get old I guess.
CoD will always be a beast of a franchise, and how awesome is it that you can just boot it up or pop it into your Xbox and play, MS BC is really a neat feature.
Many players on social media are now reporting unannounced matchmaking fixes have been put in place by Activision ranging from Call of Duty 3 to Modern Warfare 2 to Black Ops 2, on Xbox 360. Players are reporting that player counts are updating, lobbies forming, and matchmaking times have been reduced. Neither Activision nor Microsoft have commented on the matter when reached out to at this time. This is currently impacting both 360 and BC versions of the games. PS3 is not affected at this time.

Multiple users coming forward saying the games are finally working again after years of server issues. Note that not all issues such as player counts are totally fixed at this time however matchmaking is fully working again. With legacy Call of Duty games releasing on Game Pass within the next 2 years, it does make sense for these servers to eventually be corrected. Good to see the preservation of these legendary games. Hopefully PS3 receives the same treatment for these legacy titles!

Imagine that.
Conspiracy theory: MS have been planning on purchasing ABK for a long time. They let Sony outbid them for having console-exclusive CoD stuff/being first for certain dlc so the PlayStation player base would increase.
Years later, MS buy ABK, with plans to make CoD either exclusive/platform exclusive features etc with the release of a new console (Xbox Series X2?) So the established CoD player base migrates over to their platform, taking a huge percentage off Sony?
Wild theory
Game Rant Writes "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has been available for 10 years, and in that time, no other entry has topped its weapon balance and variety."
Although Black Ops 2 is one of the more loved entries in the series, there seemed to be an overall lack of recoil when I played back in the day, which made the guns feel toy-like. The overall art style didnt really sit well with me at the time either. A bit too cartoony. I think zombies could have been cool, but on the PS3, playing splitscreen made the frame rate drop to unplayable levels.
It looks better on Wii U than other consoles too. I have it for PS3 and rented it for Wii U, and it looks allot sharper on Wii U. The online was not so great, like they said not enough people, but that will change this Holiday season. The Multi-player with two people in the same room is AMAZING, no other system can do that. I wish I would have waited and picked it up on Wii U instead of PS3.
I cant wait to play this on the Wii U next week
There will be a lot more players coming online in the next month or so.
While a fair number of people who pre-ordered a Wii U picked them up at the store they pre-ordered it, a large portion (maybe even the majority) are having it shipped to them.
My pre-order doesn't even arrive until next tuesday. So there are a ton of pre-orders in the same boat I am.
People also forget that on Nov 20th this problem was even more acute, and many people that recently got their system was busy setting it up, updating it, creating a Mii/login, etc.
Even beyond that you have a situation where there's 21 or so other games that came out that people could have bought, and most people bought more than one game. I got 4, and Nintendoland makes 5. Even if people love CoD, some people might choose another game to get their feet wet with the console...like Nintendoland to get a feel for the gamepad since it's so new. Also some people like to play single-player before jumping in online. Not me, I've played like two levels of singleplayer since CoD 2 combined. But some people aren't like me.
So CoD on Wii U has some different things going on compared to the 360/PS3 versions where everything is setup, and there aren't many games competing with it. The user base will get larger and larger pretty much each day for the next couple of months. If it's still low in the first week of the new year, then I'd be concerned, but I highly doubt that.
It obviously won't have near the total users since we're talking about a version where by the end of the year there might be 1/25th amount of Wii U's sold as compared to the 360 or PS3, and that's if they sell 3 million Wii U's by the end of the year.
Which also leads into the fact that CoD is being played worldwide, whereas the BLOPS2 wii u is only being played here in the states. So the total user number of course is going to be far less right now.
