ZombiU Review: Judging A Book By Its Cover

"ZombiU probably isn’t the game you think it is. I predict this for a number of reasons. It’s a launch title for a new system, and one developed by Ubisoft, a developer with a pretty spotty launch title record (Red Steel, anyone?). Every piece of information regarding the game before release has naturally focused on the Wii U’s GamePad, which could easily be read as a warning sign about the game itself. Also, the name of this goddamn game is ZombiU, like we’re living in some odd, Nintendo 64-esque era where such a title is acceptable. The whole thing reeks of a kind of disaster. In reality, ZombiU is anything but. It’s a smart, scary, slow game marred by some predictable launch window woes."

Another great score meaning this is actually a great game, do not listen to IGN, and the rest of these biased bought off corporate companies, rent it for yourself if you have doubts, and play it, if you like it buy it. Keep em honest Nintendo fans.

This game belongs to a sub-genre that really is acquired taste.

It's just ironic that a game like Resident Evil gets slammed for it's new direction, yet when a game embraces to the principles of Survival Horror, it is slammed too.

There is no winning for this genre at the moment.

The title says the criteria was explicitly written to mention Eternal Darkness. I am happy to see House of the Dead: OVERKILL on here. With the rise of Grindhouse themes in the 2010s, (ie WET), this was one that was both entertaining and camp funny.

Would be nice to see a new Zombie game set in the UK again, some of the landmarks, old architecture and the like really fits in well with the genre.
