I gave it to a friend though....

Everyone who uses a trial I know of usually ends up paying for PS+ afterwards, as it is so good. Couldn't imagine not having PS+ any more.

So you need to cancel subscription in 30 days, if you don't want to pay anything.

That's correct. if I remember right though, you should be able to cancel right after you redeem the code and still be able to finish off the 30days
