Is Nintendo finally taking online gaming seriously with the Wii U?

well, they sort of are and the Miiverse is definitely a step in the right direction.

I'm impressed with the Miiverse but the Nintendo Network definitely needs some work.

I think Mii Verse is a ghettofied psn home. Also, I find it odd that instead of giving us cross game chat, they added a social hub? Considering the WiiU has more RAM than the ps3 and 360 combined, I expected alot more.

pat_11_54170d ago

I think the opposite. PlayStation Home is a horrible version of Miiverse. Nintendo took what Sony wanted to do with Home, and made it 10 times better.

"Nintendo gets a pass"
Oh fuck they don't, we're on the internet, where everyone hates and bitches about everything Nintendo does.

V0LT4170d ago

Being as you couldn't even communicate with anyone if you didn't have a friend code i think this is a good step.

OneAboveAll4169d ago

Yea they are totally taking it seriously with Mario and Nintendo Land having online co-op... oh wait.

Seriously, the new Mario was DESIGNED for online. The hell was the reason for not having it!?

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Online is the New Miiverse

With its new ways of both creating and sharing user-made content, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has become the unexpected successor to Nintendo’s beautiful disaster of a social media experiment Miiverse.

franwex1826d ago

Miiverse was insanity, and it was hilarious. It had a super strange community, there’s a bunch of YouTube videos about it.
I have smash ultimate, but haven’t checked out the new update. I’ll for sure take a look.

Snookies121826d ago (Edited 1826d ago )

I'm interested to check it out as well. Haven't played Smash in a while now... I think it was my issues with having multiple people play at once. The controller drifting and input lag was terrible. Not sure if they fixed that yet, but it was a pain to play when I had 3-4 friends on at the same time.

Gemmol1825d ago

Send your switch in not everyone have that issue, only one that listed that others experience is drifting issue but input lag and playing with 4 people do not have any issues

Still wondering why I am paying for Nintendo Online... It offers nothing...

Sm00thNinja1957d ago

Absolutely no reason. I bought it for Smash and its virtually unplayable.

Teflon021957d ago

I was thinking of doing it for smash but then I was like, I need to see how others experiences are. From what I get from people in general with the service is that the online gives people more trouble now than it did when it was free. Also this doesn't help. 2 day maintenance is dumb. I get a few hours in a day. but 2 days is extreme

Sm00thNinja1957d ago

Some matches are fine. Anything with more than 2 players has a tendency to be a slideshow for me. Hopefully others are having a better experience but it's by no means perfect! Anyone disagreeing is simply a shill. P2P for Smash is unacceptable

PhantomS421957d ago

You need better internet then. I've experienced just as much lag as any other online game. Occasionally but a majority of the time matches are fine.

Sm00thNinja1956d ago

@Phantom yeah I find that hard to believe when you're the minority. I get 300 down. The fact that you said j need better internet tells the whole story .... Smash is the kind of game where any lag is game breaking especially if you play a character that relies on timing like Sonic or Bayonetta. Also it's P2P it doesn't always rely on my "internet" to determine lag or disconnects. Somehow you've connected to GOLDEN 1 GIG down users every match. I find that hard to believe and easier to believe you're just not being truthful.

Two days? That's unusual, it's usually just a few hours. I wonder if they're adding anything.

XxSPIDEYxX1957d ago

While I'm disappointed in the quality of the service, especially how Smash Bros runs online, it's nice to see that Nintendos making an effort to improve it.
