IGN-Mass Effect 3 Wii U Review

IGN:If, however, you’ve never played a Mass Effect game and want to jump on in using your shiny new console, then Mass Effect 3: Special Edition is worthy of your time and money. Mass Effect 3 on its own is still easily one of the best games of the year – and some (like me) would argue that it’s the best game in the trilogy – and that hasn’t changed on Wii U. The only thing that’s changed is your access to the rest of the series.

Problem is I have already played it and little extras womt make be buy it again.

Pushagree4167d ago (Edited 4167d ago )

That's going to be a problem with a lot of these old ports. If these games didn't convince any wii fans to buy a ps3 or 360 before the wii U came out, then it probably won't interest them that much now. Nintendo gamers simply have a distinctive taste in games compared to the rest of the gaming world and game like Mass Effect and Arkham City won't appeal to them that much. All nintendo gamers really want to see is the first party family titles, not gritty adult oriented games.

StanSmith4167d ago

I'm a Nintendo gamer (not exclusively though) and I wouldn't say that Arkham City and ME3 don't appeal to me. They do. Quite alot in fact. The issue I have though, is I've already played them on PS3/360. While these seem to have been good ports, they're just too old now in my opinion.

Obviously, Wii exclusive gamers will get a treat, but for myself, not so much.

Still, ZombiU and Mario will keep me entertained next week on launch day, with Aliens, Lego City and Rayman legends in the future.

It's no secret how little Manhunt 2, Madworld, and No more heroes sold on the wii. Nintendo has never lied about how they want to appeal to the average family, not the hardcore gamer, which is why nintendo's games don't see any success sales-wise if they get the M rating. The base of nintendo, even though it's very large, is also the least diverse and most selective when it comes to the games they buy. That is why a GTA game has never been and never will be on a nintendo console. The family audience they attract does not like those kind of games.

persona4chie4167d ago

yeah...i strongly disagree (dont care about if disagree with me) i've been a nintendo gamer since i was a child yet i've owned ps1,2 and 3 and also being a nintendo gamer i say fanboys should speak for themselves. i play what people call ''hardcore'' games i love batman arkham asylum and city, never played ME but the demo was great. i love games like bayonetta, resident evil and all that stuff so speaking from experience those games dont appeal to CERTAIN people. there are people who own a ps360 and dont like those games

gamers are all different just because your a ''nintendo'' gamer doesn't mean you dont like ''hardcore'' games

StanSmith4167d ago (Edited 4167d ago )

"That is why a GTA game has never been and never will be on a nintendo console."

What about GTA Chinatown Wars? That was M rated and was designed specifically with the DS in mind. It sold more on DS then it did on PSP too.

stragomccloud4167d ago

I think you'll find that Nintendo gamers are the most well rounded of all gamers. Nintendo gamers love some good "gritty" violence as much as the next bloke, but we're also comfortable enough with ourselves as adults and don't feel threatened by our love of games like Mario~

Seriously. I own all 3 on my 360, and also the first 2 on PC. Maybe someday when it's $20 and I just want a quick go for old time's sake.

Perjoss4167d ago

Still one of the best sci-fi trilogies in gaming history.

Hydralysk4167d ago (Edited 4167d ago )

True. Unfortunately it's still saddled with quite possibly the worst trilogy ending in gaming history.

A lot of these games came out before the Wii U. It isn't worth re-purchasing them. I'm looking forward to the unreleased games at this point.

Black Flag is the best for me. Those ship battles are just amazing. I can't stop. I love when Spanish and British ships are fighting.

iplay1up23668d ago

Mass Effect 3 is great. I just picked it up a couple of weeks ago, I should have done so much sooner. Online is fun with friends.

randomass1713668d ago

Kind of wish they would do a Trilogy version instead of just 3. :(

DualWielding3668d ago

so basically the top third party games are inferior ports of previous gen consoles..... and that's why the Wii U is not selling

iplay1up23668d ago (Edited 3668d ago )

What are you talking about? Day one on Wii U Mass Effect 3 was doing what it took PS360 years to do,and With faster load times and NO SCREEN TEARING. Splinter Cell is BEST on Wii U, the gamepad is amazing for that game, BOPS2 is better online with friends 2 same room online.

Zombi U is not a port, and other games like Rayman are much better on Wii U.

Sounds like you have not spent any time with Wii U, because it is a great system. If you don't like Nintendo, your loss dude, it took me a few weeks before I could even learn all the tricks you can do with the System. It does things my PS4 can't BTW, but troll along now.

PygmelionHunter3668d ago

I dare to say Monster Hunter is a better game than any of those, but I'm biased so... XD

Games Deserving a Wii U Makeover

Ryan Johnson | GoozerNation

Some love it, some hate it: many "hit titles" for the Wii U are actually games for the PS3 or Xbox 360 that came out last year. Either they think that it's a cheap cop out, or they think it's a great way to get a complete edition of a game with enhanced controls. Here are a few games that could use a remake or reboot that could take advantage of the Wii U's unique GamePad controls.

Okami and Fatal Frame, I definitely agree with.

It would be better if the WiiU could do the same Augment reality tricks that 3DS's "Spirit Camera"(FF spin-off) could.

jcnba284006d ago

F-Zero with 25 player online races.

RyanDJ4006d ago

I do hope they reboot that series past Nintendoland. So many good franchises just skimmed by in that game!

o-Sunny-o4006d ago

Don't they mean a Wiimake? Nintendo fixes games and sends em out. I rather Nintendo working on their own games. More games not last gens games.

RyanDJ4006d ago

Nintendo isn't doing all of these in-house are they? They shouldn't be effecting new Nintendo properties. Unless a company has to rebuild from ground up these games will have significantly less stressful development cycles. Heck, even if they did, storyline and general gameplay is already created if they did have to start from scratch.

The games already created that are getting remade deserve the attention. For example, I feel Arkham City is a cant-miss game for a traditional gamer. I haven't played Mass Effect or Deus Ex yet, but I have been told they are the same. This gives me a chance to finally try them. (I will say I'd go for a cheaper price point too, but these editions are "cheaper" by including DLC).

Agent_hitman4006d ago

I'd love to see GTA V on Wii U with additional feature with tablet controller.

RyanDJ4006d ago

While not the right atmosphere, LEGO City scratches that itch.
