"With the console launching to such mixed fanfare, is there any way Nintendo will be able to recover and continue to entice the hardcore gamer?" | Explosion.com
If you were a 90s kid excited about Nintendo’s upcoming N64 console, you likely read something somewhere about the Nintendo 64 Disk Drive, also known as the 64DD or DD64.
Other nominees include games like SimCity & Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.
There are some good nominees in this list that are deserving to be inducted also, but I feel Metroid has had the most impact on the industry out of all of these. Look how Metroid influenced the evolution of the Castlevania games, and the "Metroidvania" subgenre of games have become a prevailing force in gaming today. Especially now, Metroidvanias are bigger than ever.
I can very much see Resident Evil being added later too, bc it really did popularize and define the survival horror genre. I would say that one is next in line.
If any Metroid game should get the honor it should be Super Metroid , it's perfection in my eyes . 30 years later and I still feel it's the most epic shit ever .
The GBA remake deserves it or Super Metroid, the original was a very sloppy and rushed game programmed in 3 months and it shows.
If you've never played the remake, it's absolutely a must play, fixes basically every flaw in the game. Check out ExoParadigmGamer's comparison video.
“Before even Kirby was born, HAL Laboratory released the super-cute puzzler Adventures of Lolo in 1989 and it has held up beautifully.” - A.J. Maciejewski from Video Chums.
If you are an early adopter then of course there is going to be hiccups. These problems aren't the first time in a console history that problems have shown up when 100's of thousands of people buy a console.
The fixes should be sorted by the time it launches in Europe and definitely will be fixed when the console finally hits Japan.
This is what happens when you turn your back on the hardcore. Take note MS.
WiiU will recover as soon as they launch the 2nd Generation of games that utilize the system more!
(Price Drop will also Help)
Really? People are talking about IF it can recover after less than a week? Fucking hell, they at least gave the Vita 6 months.
It's had the same little niggles that EVERY console suffers at launch. Why is it with Nintendo machines there's always an attitude of doom and gloom? The DS was supposed to be a flop and look what happened, the Wii was supposed to be a flop and look what happened - sold 20 million consoles more than it's nearest rival and a couple of hundred million more games.
Do people not get it yet? Never write them off, especially not when they can make a profit off the Wii U after selling only 1 first party game. They have listened to gamers for the most part and are trying to give them what they want. Are they doing it perfectly? Of course not, but we're nearly 8 years into this generation and Sony and MS are STILL not doing things perfectly either.
