GameZone writes, "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 may have earned over $500 million worldwide when it launched last week for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, but it seems the game is struggling to catch on with Wii U players. It's likely that we won't hear specific figures regarding the Wii U version of Activision's biggest launch title of the year for quite a while, but upon signing in to online yesterday we noticed a startling number: only 600-some players were online at the time."
Following the Wii U and 3DS servers being taken offline, Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and Ghosts are officially dead.
Call of Duty players are jumping into Black Ops 2 for the final time before its Wii U servers go offline for good.
GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 leap up due to summer sales
Wow, good games never get old I guess.
CoD will always be a beast of a franchise, and how awesome is it that you can just boot it up or pop it into your Xbox and play, MS BC is really a neat feature.
There's probably multiple reasons.
1. It's a brand new console so the fanbase isn't there yet.
2. People probably aren't buying a wiiu to play CoD. People are buying it to play mario and zombiu.
3. Shooters aren't really that popular with the Nintendo crowd.
4. Not a lot of advertising for the wiiu version.
5. Most people who buy the wiiu already have another console. Therefore, the people who wanted CoD already bought it.
Just my thoughts...
This game shouldve been 50,000 strong by now on wii u.. Being a new console or not, COD sells on ALL platforms.. Its over 5 mil on original wii with that crappy port
The game is boring that's why it's just the next wave of $60 dlc that millions of unsuspecting buyers bought into once again. Personally im not sure why i bought it, and zombies might be the saving grace for the game.
"I am LOVING ZombiU! Nice to see a true survival/horror game."
yeah dud ur right this is the first game that i have played in long time that's been giving me trouble on how exactly how to approach certain situations in the game.
They are still downloading their 5gb mandatory update for online features.
Yeah 75 million consoles versus ~1 million sold. Many aren't even in their hands yet.
People have to remember if you pre-ordered it, odds are, it still hasn't arrived to your house. Mine doesn't arrive until the 27th.
For 360/ps3 owners you don't have a brand new library of games diverting people's attention, you have Dishonored and Halo 4, both of which launched weeks ago. For Wii U, you have 20 something games a couple of days ago.
You have the updates, which are slowing people down from getting to playing. How many people that got a console on Sunday, couldn't play until Monday? Tons.
You also have people playing the single player and not the multiplayer.
Also since the 360/PS3 version came out earlier, theirs already arrived via mail, and the big initial campaign beater wave has already passed, leaving those players to focus on multiplayer.
So yeah, there's lots of reasons. The Wii U version is going to keep adding people every day through the end of the year at least.
