The heck Nintendo? How the heck did you manage to do that?!

bozebo4174d ago (Edited 4174d ago )

Looks scarily legit if you ask me :S

Getting into a local debug shouldn't be an issue alone, if it provides forms for removing other people's accounts I would assume there is security at the node wherever that communicates to - it is likely they compiled the controller's software with the debug menu still in it, a silly mistake but it should be safe. (I could imagine programming this in a way where there are no client-side checks because it's a debug menu and they are mostly for prettiness). Imagine if you were to get the admin/moderator menu to open up in WoW or something, but none of the actions did anything (spawn NPCs wherever you want and things like that)

Holy shit, new Yoshis island? like the SNES one?? That would be AWESOME!!

kopicha4174d ago

speechless... when PSN got hacked, people are making a fuss out of it here. Now this and no one bother to have concern with how secure the system is but talk instead drifting off topic talking about Yoshi Island. Gosh....

Knight_Crawler4174d ago

Yes becuause millions of people have there credit card info on Wii U online -_-

eferreira4174d ago

and yet no one actually had their credit card info stolen. It was very minimal of what was actually leaked. Sony got hacked like 5 years into the cycle. Nintendo day one. I'd be nervous.

Thepcz4174d ago (Edited 4174d ago )

all it proves is psn gamers are pessimistic, cynical people who turn everything into a opportunity to sue or claim compensation. it also proves sony fans have no faith.

if it were a sony fan who managed to stumble their way into the admins suit, he would have exploited it. maybe recorded the bank details of thousands of customers before reporting the glitch. or maybe not saying a word, and committing large scale fraud over a long period.

a nintendo fan in the same situation just uses it as an opportunity to see what great games are coming

:D

i would also point out there is a difference between being being maliciously hacked (ie an actual attack on the sites security) and merely a glitch that allows you to view admin tools.

yes, its not good, but to compare it to the ATTACK on psn is just rediculous

Hicken4174d ago

Yeah, there IS a difference between maliciously hacked, and stumbling upon a glitch.

One of them is an ACTIVE attempt at breaching security. The other is a screwup on the company's behalf.

Yes, an INTENTIONAL hack is bad, but it's a different kind of bad when the company just leaves itself open like this.

And sorry, but no SONY fan would do what you described. That's just an ass and a waste of humanity; they could only CLAIM to be a fan.

As it stands, the question of how big a fan this guy is remains unanswered. After all, what kind of fan stumbles upon this stuff, then leaks it to the internet? Doesn't sound like a very fan-like thing to to, to me. Wouldn't a REAL fan have kept it to himself and contacted Nintendo instead of this?

And again with the "bank data" ignorance. I guess it's pointless to tell you that all that data is encrypted, so it would be useless even if it WERE stolen.

I mean, are you SERIOUSLY still getting that wrong? How long has it been now, and you- and others- are still trying to spread falsehoods about the attack?

HammadTheBeast4174d ago

Yes, but one was a massive group of hackers, the other was Nintendo f***king up massively.

jmc88884174d ago

Also I wouldn't call it a hack. More like stumbling into something.

A hack is a concerted effort to find a hole, with the purpose of exploiting it, usually financially.

Pushing a button on a controller within a menu isn't really hacking. Or else things like the Konami codes or other cheat codes are hacks.

They were quick to respond as well.

Funny though that guy mention that a famous Nintendo guy called him that he really respected (maybe Reggie?). Or maybe Miyamoto (sp)?

rainslacker4174d ago

Yeah it's an oversight on Nintendo's part. Not a hack because the software worked entirely as intended. It just wasn't intended for the end-user to be able to perform that function...thus an oversight.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Online is the New Miiverse

With its new ways of both creating and sharing user-made content, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has become the unexpected successor to Nintendo’s beautiful disaster of a social media experiment Miiverse.

franwex1827d ago

Miiverse was insanity, and it was hilarious. It had a super strange community, there’s a bunch of YouTube videos about it.
I have smash ultimate, but haven’t checked out the new update. I’ll for sure take a look.

Snookies121827d ago (Edited 1827d ago )

I'm interested to check it out as well. Haven't played Smash in a while now... I think it was my issues with having multiple people play at once. The controller drifting and input lag was terrible. Not sure if they fixed that yet, but it was a pain to play when I had 3-4 friends on at the same time.

Gemmol1827d ago

Send your switch in not everyone have that issue, only one that listed that others experience is drifting issue but input lag and playing with 4 people do not have any issues

A Miiverse Eulogy: So Long to the First True Social Video Game Platform

The Miiverse gave myself, and so many others, a platform unlike any console had ever seen before. For once, our reactions to games, both about them generally and in the moment-to-moment, were given life in the games themselves. The Miiverse's concept was novel, fresh, new. It felt like the first true social video game platform. And it's a shame that it was for a console that hardly anyone actually played.
