Hitman: Absolution Review | EDGE

EDGE: "The game has taken a unique formula and diluted it, allowing the fashionable trappings of other stealth titles to intrude upon a series that has always confidently eschewed convention. It’s often churlish to criticise a game for daring to do something different, but Absolution is its own indictment – it’s still at its peak when it gives its antihero an unwitting victim and a sandbox, and lets him get to work."

Why IO why. All the reviews that seem worth I poins to Hitman absolution being a "diluted" game that I knew and loved.

There's enough shooters out there with linear gameplay and lack of thought put into playing it.

Looks like I am beter off saving my money for the HD remakes.

Deeply dissappointed in this.

Deeply disappointed in what? The 8's and 9's it's been receiving? Have you actually read the reviews? The game is good and is a great HITMAN game. You should try it out before you just decide not to get it because it got a 7.5

Your going to allow one review to manipulate your mind into their opinion of the game. There are plenty of reviews out there. But at the end of the day they are opinions. I am getting Hitman because I loved bloody money and will play this one first playthrough on purist. It will take a while than I will challenge friends to contracts.

No been reading all of em and quite frankly don't want to listen to them but when they talk about the "linear" game it worries me. Hitman has never been linear or narrow.

I mean seriously you wear a disguise and it doesn't work?! That aint hitman.

On the outside it looked like a simple thing: Hitman 3 would now be known by this name and include levels from Hitman 2 and 3 - the trilogy would all be in one place. But on the inside, at IO Interactive, much more was going on.

You mean destroyed it with this tethered single-player campaign BS... And only the first few levels of the third modern game were on the disc! I'll never support this crap at any price-point! They've lost me as a customer.

Hitman is, and has been, a remarkable series developed by some of the best. Some are better than others, but every Hitman is challenging and fun.

Sure, there have been some stumbles and fumbles, but always in pursuit of the perfect Hitman game. The most recent trilogy is a masterclass in level design.
