Is Pornography What The Gaming Industry Needs?

The gaming industry is suddenly becoming more accepting of the adult film industry. Does this mean that video game publishers will actually start releasing titles that aren’t targeted at children?

I don't think gaming should be defined by porn, but having access to pornography through consoles is a plus. I'm not a porn viewer, but I understand that adults own consoles, and porn apps from legitimate businesses provides a safe way for adults to access programming they want. It is not anyone's place to judge someone else's viewing habits.

As for porn in games themselves, I personally believe the system in place is working. The console manufacturers reject pornography driven games because they don't want their hardware associated with porn and that is their choice because they invested in building the hardware. Same thing goes for the porn apps... console manufacturers can reject them, but I personally wouldn't be offended or excited if it happened. I really don't care, but I do care when people want to police free speech.

Sex is a private thing between people, and it's personal and intimate (unless you're into the group thing). Most people are NOT comfortable having sex in front of other people or watching strangers have sex while in the company of others (again, unless you're a fetishist or something).

Violence is different because it's usually goal oriented: You're defending someone. You're defending yourself. You're fighting for a cause or you're trying to prevent a cause.

If you can't see the difference between why some people are okay with violence and not public displays of sex then I can't really help you, sir.

Everyone likes to use the "oh, but MURDER is okay!?" line of logic, but just think about how tiring and annoying it has been to see developers exploit violence in so many games these days, and then think about what the industry would become if sexuality became an even more viable point of exploitation in the industry as well...

The point is, I don't necessarily want to associate the industry with sex and violence. I have no problem with their presence in games, but when I feel like the publishers are trying to sell me sex and violence instead of an actual game, then it becomes a problem, and "mainstreaming" pornography just means that we're going to get a TON of developers trying to sell our libido's back to us.

I never knew that just because you're not a teenager means that you suddenly need a game based on "pornography." If the gaming industry stoops any lower than it already has, it's doomed. I don't think people's love life would do well with that sort of thing either.

Honestly, I don't think it's needed in video games. Games like God of War and Mass Effect were really pushing it. When a game makes you uncomfortable to play around your parents or play at all, that's pretty bad. Pornography should stick with its corner and video games should be left as just video games.

Think about it, you walk into GameStop, and you have all these age sections or you have to show your ID before walking in. Lol.

There would be your oblivious family member that bought one of the games for their grandchild, and then there would be some upset parents after seeing what their kid is playing.

Video games have always been made to express video game creators. That would be really creepy if a game shows all of these naked people everywhere, and the creator goes "I made this to show all of the people I've fapped to and how I've fapped to them."

I think video games should just stick with how they are now. Less creepy and a lot more fun. I mean, who honestly wants to say "this is the game I literally get off to?" That's just weird.

I would not say porn but add nudity. Sometimes this little spice is necessary to make love scenes in game more solid which adds to the story. Add nudity if it adds something to the gaming experience; not for wanking material.

Keep it neutral & about saving the world.. Sexuality isnt needed & if it is in, make it tasteful like how Kratos gets down or like the witcher.. Not too much but enough to be liked.. Consoles have become a venue for all types of entertainment (movies, games, music, internet, etc.) Porn helped develop the internet (people didn't want to go to stores for porn LOL), so hopefully it'll do the same for gaming consoles.

The Puritanical and lackadaisical parents of the world would insist that nudity is evil and would scar their kids for life. The pseudo white knights would campaign against it in a vain attempt to either look cultured/mature or to hope it gets them laid (and it won't). The politicians would see it as a voting issue and pick sides with the aforementioned puritans. In short, humans are infantile as a race and still have a biologically erroneous sense of modesty fuelled by poor societal traditions and rules and have no problem living by double standards.

Pornography isn't needed, but it shouldn't be such a big deal if it's included. Since when is sex a bad thing? May as well say burping is just as bad. Both are biological functions.
