Unfortunate news for Playstation 3 owners who have bought Call of Duty: Black Ops for the console – the game is a buggy mess that is for the most part broken. At least that’s what reports coming in are claiming, with gamer’s taking to the Playstation forums lambasting the game as a problem-riddled disaster.

I don't know anyone who has a PS3 who is switching to 360 for the sake of COD anymore. The last time that might have happened was when MW2 was released. BF3 is where it's at for me in the FPS space and DICE fully support it on all platforms. Actually, the 360 version had the most issues on release but they have been ironed out as far as I know. COD is outdated now in my opinion.

my ps3 is turning off every 30 minutes of play, I had tons of sound glitches, online have poor connection and lags, leaderboards dont represent what ive done, points disapear every time I freeze... it is crap..

If you are a studio, and I give you 10 or 20 millions, so you release a buggy ps3 version, those millions compensating the games not sold on the ps3, because people grabbed the best version, would you accept my millions?

We are not talking of a game that must run on 10 million different rigs. We're talking about an unified system, where only hard drives or internet speed change: a console. For the game to randomly bug and randomly crash, you need some randomly buggy code. And with some millions, any coder would do miracles, on writing buggy code.

I am so frustrated with this game, I can be in a full lobby (12/12) and it'll still say looking for players to balance teams, if I am in a lobby post match and a new match is going to start I have to put the controller down and not look and anyones emblems because it will crash my ps3 (it has happened well over 15 times in the 6 hours or so I have gotten to play so far) Hit detection is terrible spawn system is a joke and the foot-step sounds from opposing players are non existent and cartoon sounding.

Not everyone experiences the same problems.

That Skyrim game breaking glitch that made the game unplayable after the game save reached 8+ mb? I never encountered that, and my save file was about 13mb and I platinumed the game, never experiencing the awful game breaking glitches many others did.

With CoD, I've been reading comments here on n4g of people that have been playing for long periods of time and haven't encountered any glitches or connection issues.

Maybe some of the reviewers simply aren't having these issues that others are having, or if they are, maybe they aren't anywhere near as bad as others issues are (example: if a game I just bought froze only twice within a week of me buying the game, each day playing for like 5-8 hours or so,it wouldn't bother me enough to affect my review of a game, that's something I'd be able to look past and not get overly upset about).

Some of these reviewers are probably just reviewing with their own personal experiences, and not everyones experience will be the same. They aren't going to factor in other peoples problems into their own review of the game (nor should they, though they should make a mention of it as a warning that it could happen).

The game is playable at the very least, so if you don't mind some freezing issues, the game still runs so keep playing.

Outside of that, I agree. I can't understand why anyone would be surprised. A smart gamer would be skeptical after being burned in the past; the crazy sales the games keep seeing seems to indicate that there aren't as many smart gamers as one would hope.

That said, I've been receiving mixed impressions. While I've heard a lot from various online sources about there being all sorts of flaws, I haven't heard nearly the same ratio of complaints from people I know personally. Of course, they could just be part of the lucky few, but I have to wonder if, perhaps, these issues aren't being over-reported.

I had issues two days ago when I first got the game. For the first hour or two everything was fine, but for the later part of the night, the servers were acting up and I couldn't get in a match....until I discovered that joining a friend's session would work just fine. It kinda sucked depending on another guy to get in a game, but hey, at least I was playing. I'm not really sure why that was happening, but everything has been smooth ever since and I'm really enjoying the game. I always hated MW3, but now that I have BO2 to compare, it really shows how horrible the game really was.

But yeah...Articles like these always has me hesitant in purchasing whatever game it may be, but once I actually get the game I never suffer any of said "game breaking glitches" or "problem riddled disasters". Maybe I'm lucky, but I think it's weird that all my friend's are as lucky as as I am too. I'm not denying the existence of any of the reported problems, but I also believe these issues are being over-reported and exaggerated.

Ok, so just want to get out there that i am a Cod fan and understand why some of you bash on it. However, as of yesterday the servers have improved significantly and the game is not as bad anymore. I was angry yesterday that they whern't working either but they got the issue resolved pretty quick. A few patches here and there and the game will shape up to be great. I'm enjoying the game and it hasn't been long enough for me to say that about a cod game. Treyarch cares about their customers it just so happens to be that they are partnered with Xbox and is why they get more love. I'm loving the game and i wasn't paid to say so.

There are no reason for problems with spawning, in the engine you select spawn and put the spawn object where you want, anyone who's ever done a quake3 of their own knows. You can make many. Yet there isn't enough of them in some of the maps.

Seems to still use the quake3 netcode which was broken from the beginning, some maps you could kill anything that moved, others hit nothing.

Watch your kill cam after, your behind cover and still killed, and no it's not a perk. It's fuked up netcode.

But there is one more thing that is a fking joke on any COD title, and some other games.

AUTOAIM.

What is the point, your supposed to learn to aim better yourself. It's not hard.

Treyarch once said in an interview. Don't fix what is isn't broken. Well there are many things broken that need fixing.

What i find hilarious is microsoft advertises call of duty as their exclusive with tv ads internet and what not.. but sales for the games may surprise many..I think sales are pretty close , i dont think ps3 owners will have anything to worry about i would say Activision will have a fix for the issues thats going on.. they made alot of money off the ps3 verions of the games over the years, and probably like to continue that... but that being said alot of the 3rd party devs prefer to work on the xbox "significantly easier" to develop on cause of it pc like nature..

What I'll say is this.... this is nothing new for multiplatform games underperforming on Sony's console. At this point in the PS3's life cycle don't gamers already anticipate this? So what happens when games like Portal2, Batman Arkham Asylum, the last few Assassins Creeds, LA Noire, Final Fantasy13, ME2, Brink, Dragon Age2, Battlefield3, DeadSpace, Ninja Gaiden, Saints Row3, JustCause2, SSF4, Castlevania Lords of Shadow, TombRaider Underworld etc either run higher res', have better load times, or frames, or lighting, or AA, or have --exclusive content-- on the PS3 at no extra charge? If it doesnt matter enough to you or ohnoesaz, then why should it matter to anyone else for one other game at launch?

These launch issues sort out, BO2 already has. Half a million on PS3 yesterday any given time. TombRaider Underworld's sub-HD on the 360 doesn't sort out over time. Castlevania Lords of Shadow will always load 5sec quicker on PS3 and be single disc, and Saints Row3 will never tear on PS3 or lose frames unlike the competition. Pick your poison, but a multiplat clean sweep it ain't.

Greatly exaggerated. Had no problem entering the Nuketown code for my wife, and she and her friend playlist have been playing solid with little to no problem all day yesterday. Tuesday (launch day) was bad for connections, yesterday wasn't.

I don't know what everybody is complaining about, I got it yesterday and played all night with no problems. I was surprised by how good the game looks, it looks like an Infinity Ward game. Major improvement over WAW and BO1.

How the hell can Activison let the game pass through the testing phase. What they let a bunch of crackheads test game. I was going to rent it but I think ill pass and rent Assassins Creed 3. I feel sorry for the fans who waited in line for the midnight launch and paying $60 for a train wreck they cant play hopefully Activision fixes it soon for the fans wether 360 or PS3.

1) System says it's searching for additional players to make teams even...even if there are an even number of players and even when all slots are filled. I've noticed that once teams are divided, the highlighting of the teams appears and disappears and people's name randomly end up in different parts of the list. Very odd.

2) Once access is granted to a multiplayer game (however long that takes after people are cursing the whole time in justifiable frustration and threatening to go to BF3) there are freeze frame glitches. I really don't like that and it's gotten me killed many times.

3) I have noticed far fewer problems with the online multiplayer Zombie maps. I seem to have very good lucking starting those matches rather than the regular matches. Perhaps this is because the demand is lower. But I can say those Zombie maps and gameplay are a lot of fun. So, I've found myself playing Zombies a lot while everyone else is trying to get onto traditional games. I've also launched into the Campaign out of necessity since the Multiplayer "waiting areas" are filled with really angry people talking about selling the game or taking it back.

4) This is not limited to the PS3. My friend has a 360 and they have been experiencing problems, as well. This makes me wonder if there is a problem with the original coding prior to the port being made to other game consoles. I haven't looked up what console the game was originally coded for. This is not professional, if it's the case. My hypothesis will be verified if they introduce a patch for both consoles at the same time, solving similar issues.

The multiplayer aspect is the highlight of the game. I like the new maps. The campaign is pretty lame. Too many movie cutaways. I find the campaign to be a movie with a few areas where you're actually playing...or at least it feels like that.

it's not even that bad, i've been playing this game on PSN since the release and I haven't had many issues. I also have it for the 360 and I've had the same number of issues with both consuls. I don't get this article because I play with about 5 friends all the time and we don't have enough problems to complain about it.

Ya I think activision hates ps3 and sony.All there games have issues on ps3. There scum.They will lose a ton of money by making crappy games for ps3. Almost half there revenue is ps3, dummies. I still say there are way better games on ps3. We have Resistance 3 and Killzone 3 so I play those games. Also EA has way better war games. Activision is in love with the cash microsoft hands them. You notice the xbox versions are always better. I havent bought any new COD games and probably wont anymore. I got pissed off at activision when World At War was hacked and then MW2. I call about world at war the guy was like oh ya black ops is hacked I was like im not talking about black ops Im calling about world at war he was like oh. Black ops had just come out 4 or 5 months earlier.They dont care about people just about money. EA battlefield series and MOH are never hacked its a bunch of BS on activisions part and I'm done with that company!

Man I hate to hear that for ps3 players. But that's why I stick with the golden rule for this gen: xbox 360 = multiplat titles & Exclusives AND ps3 = Exclusives and multiplat titles with extra content and the whole 1 disc vs. 2 disc thing. just signed up for an account on n4g to say that this article is complete bullsh*t, i'v been playing from launch and only once or twice in about 40+ hrs in the game / online and campaign did the game freeze up a bit, I simply restarted the game and it worked perfectly, this is clearly someone paid off by Microsoft to spread lies so people get an xbox to play it on, pathetic! its an amazing game :)

A little blown out of proportion if you ask me. I've had Black Ops 2 on PS3 since release and yes sometimes it takes a while to find a match but plays smoothly when you get in one and very, very, rarely kicks you out of a match. Honestly Black Ops 1 still has more connection issues than Black Ops 2 on PS3, I still get kicked out of Black Ops 1 on a regular basis, but I don't play it since I got Black Ops 2 because it is better all the way around.
