Woo! Sabin! Though I really liked Terra and Locke as the main characters as well. Just about every character was memorable from FFVI.
Vaan basically not being the main character in XII was strange... EDIT: This article says he was but he definitely wasn't. It'd be a toss up between Balthier, Ashe and Basch.
VI kind of had multiple main protagonists. That's one of the things that was awesome about it.
FF6 has the best cast indeed. Anybody could have been the main hero there but I still prefer FF7 anyway.
