Assassin's Creed Movie Confirmed for 2013

Not long ago, we received a press release confirming that Ubisoft is working closely with New Regency for the development of the much-anticipated Assassin's Creed movie. At the time, the release date and many other crucial details were kept secret. However, something leaked out.

Still... This has a LOT of potential to be a really great movie.

EDIT: Also, this Michael Fassbender guy would definitely look the part with a hood on. He's got the right facial structure.

Michael Fassbender is a great actor. Every movie he's played in are masterpieces so I'm sure it'll be a good movie. Who knows, maybe like Wreck-it Ralph it'll be another good movie inspired by video games (loveddd it)

Fassbender could really work as an Assassin, but I have a feeling this film will be lame. Just another generic film that does nothing new. Looks the same as all the others in terms of cinematography, uses very similar music to evoke very similar emotions, has that same "gravely serious" thing going on that so many big blockbusters these days do, and it'll probably feature lots of glorifed slo-mo violence that regresses us further back to Ancient Rome culturally.

I can't see this film doing anything groundbreaking in terms of cinema, it'll likely just be another "churned out" kind of film.

Seriously, the more this series becomes a franchise, the worse it gets. It's losing it's edge because it's getting completely commodifed.

I disagree wholeheartedly. Ubisoft proved they have the credentials to do live action cinematography with Assassin's Creed Lineage. Now it's just a matter of stretching out some of that goodness into a feature length film.

Maybe not everyone agreed, but I really enjoyed Lineage and I hope this movie will be like that as well.

No, the series has to much going on at once and unless the first movies got the Nolan time length then a origin/first film with Altiar/Desmond would be kind of pointless. Unless they plan on going the Resident Evil route and take ideas, names, and locations and do their own thing.

Plus im not sure alot of people would get the animus thing and the jumping in and out, people would just call it in the vein of jacking in like the matrix films.

Eitherway a movie seems kind of pointless considering we are into ACIII which has four console and three handheld titles before it each with their own stories, upon a CG film and novels. ...Then again money is king... (Just don't feel like going through Ezio's sequel films. Plus the games each tell their own story and do it well, I don't need a big budget film re-telling it and nomatter how bias I'll want to be the gamer in me will be like, "NO!" as I eat my popcorn in the film with my 3D glasses on knowing im not the only hypacrit.

Is this supposed to be a retelling of existing story content, or an original storyline? If it's the former, then I think it's a waste and completely unnecessary.

Though if you were to ask me I honestly think it's not even going to involve Desmond or any existing assassin at all.
