Black Ops 2 PS3: Freezing, Servers Not Available & 'Need More Players'

It's not even been a full 24 hours yet and already the PS3 version of Black Ops 2 seems to be plagued with problems.
It's almost a case of history repeating itself, since the PS3 version of the original Black Ops had a number of platform exclusive issues that just didn't seem to get fixed, at least not for a while.

Bethesda games are understandable, given the immense scope and complexity that they have that other games just don't, but Activision has absolutely no excuse for this crap.

It's not a very graphically demanding franchise, they don't overhaul anything engine or gameplay wise, they have nothing but time to craft and perfect their engine and fix their problems since they don't have to create a new engine, yet the netcode still runs like trash.

When all you have to do for each CoD is add new maps and weapons, tweak the unlock/perk/killstreak system and add a couple of new modes, then you (activision) should have plenty of time and resources to work out the kinks of the problems that have been there for years.

I had a weird sound glitch where my gun kept making the firing sound but at a weird pitch so it sounded like a fart, I had to quit the match because it was so distracting lol
Also my friend's PS3 crashed a couple of times when we were playing online.
Why are these things still happening?
I know it sells a lot more on the 360 but the PS3 has a hell of a lot of customers and is a huge part of their sales so why screw them over, doesn't make sense from a business point of view. Anyway the overall game is pretty good and the bus in zombie mode is hilarious when you're all trying to jump on before the robot guy drives off!

I have 0% faith in Treyarch as a development team. You could have the greatest creative minds on the planet in the team for all it matters, if they are incapable of making a game actually function at a basic level, they should be getting berated.

Why is it when any other game gets a garbage/broken port on one platform, there is uproar and demand for a fix. But when it's a COD title... "Meh, it's Activision on a PS3 game, we expect this by now".

My point being, we should NOT have to tolerate this in 2012, almost 2013.

The PS3 has been on the market since 2006 and literally hundreds of Devs have no issue at all with it, but multi-billion $$$ title that costs £45 EVERY. YEAR. with a massive team can't even make a game work on par with other platforms.

I've been playing the ps3 version and its ran great. Much smoother than the 1st black ops. I also went into the options at the main menu, and u can install the texture pack to the hard drive. I did that right away and it's been smooth so far.

Online is connecting fine and downloaded my nuke town fine also.

No freezes. Only one match so far got connection interrupted. Everything has worked flawless.

Sorry to hear of PS3 issues.

Ran fine on my 360 in the UK until the rest of America finished work :) then the servers filled up very quickly. I couldn't get into zombies with my party for about 20 mins.

Other than that all good. No freezing or issues with codes. The odd laggy server but that's normal and host migration works ok.

Do you think its technically possible for Microsoft, to approach 2 or 3 main coders, who work on the ps3 version, and give them like 2 million $ each, so they insert some random crappy code, so it generates some random unstable hard to find bugs ?

Well, someone tells me Microsoft isn't the kind of company that could afford it, 6 millions are a lot of cash for them, and they don't use that kind of practices, like buying exclusive content, exclusive dlcs,etc. A real serious company everybody can trust.

If, after 7 years, some studios still have a lot of difficulty to write code on ps3, specially studios that make exclusive content, dlcs, extensions for the xbox, poor coders, life is tough, why they don't simply copy-paste code from , black ops 1, for example, code that actually works quite well?

If you talk about this to other people, non gamers, everybody would say they are doing it on purpose, so the best version is......Xbox version.

Microsoft can grab 1 billion and buy potatoes, with that money, if they want.
I guess it shouldn't be that hard to pay 10 or 20 millions, just to have the best version of the game. I wonder how much they paid, so the skyrim extensions become real hard to code, on the ps3.

Seems funny to all these 360 fanboys claiming this is a PS3-hard-to-develop-for issue, that both IW & Treyarch had no issues with COD:MW 1&2, as well as WAW, but........hang on, big BUT, as soon as an agreement with MS is met for exclusive 360 content & MS giving them massive ammounts of money, all of a sudden PS3 versions don't run on the same engine they were running on fine a sequel of 2 ago.

As for the 1 or 2 other developers like Bethestheda, well, this is just a case of developers that are more accustomed to pc development, & MS's plan from the start to turn ALL consoles into slightly different shaped pc's, so as well as near every pc on the planet running some kind of windows, but ALL consoles doing the same.

So Sony are being punished by developers for not adhering to MS's silent insistance from there console manfacturing inception to turn consoles into quickly ageing pc's, when consoles were always about there uniqueness & what set one apart from the other. Now, when a manufacturer dare do just that, and add unique feature sets to there hardware, they are chopped down & punished for it.

I really hope Sony does offer uniqueness again with PS4 & it pays off, as otherwise there will be no reason to own one machine over another.

If I had both consoles, when the game is multi platform, I would buy the xbox versions, because they're definitely a little-->better-->much better than the ps3 version, and even a Sony lover like me will admit it.

A long time ago, people were coding games, for them, for their pleasure and ours.no restrictions, no rush, and they really tries hard to master the hardware. Who, among you, remember the series thunder force, on genesis? Thunderforce 4 was a monster, with several paralax, huge bosses, hundreads of bullets, many different enemies, great sound. And all that on a f#$king 7 MHz(not sure, check wiki ) Motorola processor!!! 7 damn MHz.

Today, coders basically have no freedom, if shareholders decide that the main campaign should last 6 hours, with only these features and content and with that story, well, coders have nothing to say, they code, code and code. Screen tearing, bad textures, textures popup, stupid story, bad HUD, etc, no problem. As long as it costs less than X and its released on Y, only that matters.content and quality: not important at all.

And when I see a console like the ps3, with its raw huge power, and see many studios, 1st(Santa Monica, media molecule,guerilla software,etc), 3rd party, and even many many studios, that did a great work on ps3 and Xbox, like portal 2,etc, there are NO excuses so a studio like Bethesda or treyarch can screw the ps3 version, and even say they aren't able to code an extension,bla bla bla.

And of course, strangely, but I really mean strangely, those out of luck companies that can't code on the ps3, strangely, they release timed exclusive extensions and dlcs for the xbox. Games like cod do drive big sales, big ones. If microsoft, with 20 or 30 little million $ can pay for the best version, so more people buy the xbox or the game, why bothering making new IPs and paying millions on ads? These articles are so misleading and people bite the bait and feed into them like vultures. I got it for PS3 and there was a half a million on it last night, my bro has it for 360 and there was about the same amount of peeps on there a little over a half a mil. Also the server over load has caused the multiplayer to act shoddy on both consoles. Parties not launching in games correctly, lagging out and occasional freezes here and there. Some are experiencing issues more then others on both consoles.
