Ubisoft “interested” in buying THQ’s IPs

Ubisoft chairman and CEO Yves Guillemot isn’t calling THQ’s time of death, but if things go south for the struggling company, Guillemot may be interested in acquiring a few of its top brands.

Take Saints Row please....just save it from them because THQ are doing such a great job of ruining it. The third one was crap compared to the others, it felt like one step back for the franchise.

I agree, I couldn't get into the 3rd. It wasn't even the 'over the top' nature of it(which in my opinion was too over the top), it just felt lacking in many areas.

If THQ does go under, I'm sure many of their IPs would end up for sale and Ubisoft IMO would be one of the better companies I'd want to pick them up. Granted I don't want to see THQ fall but Ubisoft just seems a better "fit" for many of its titles.

Company of Heroes, Darksiders, Metro, and Warhammer 40k (especially strategy) are all great IPs that I've enjoyed every time. Then of course there are Saint's Row (which needs a more mature approach compared to 3... Some really "classy" design choices just kept me from even wanting to try it as marketing goes both ways), Homefront (which could be great), and maybe revive/reboot Red Faction and Destroy All Humans open world games ;)

THQ's main games : Company of Heroes that had an Online version and the Warhammer Series with a Horde mode with both games having a unlockable items via XPs and levels like an MMO...just what Ubisoft need for its lists of F2P games (most of its currently planned F2Ps have severe lack of guns, orcs and splattering blood).

Ubisoft is heavily invested with F2Ps and only interested in some of THQ'S IPs, not the company itself...they are not charging in like knights in shining armour to save a ruined kingdom but more like some neighbour waiting for the guy next door to start his garage sale before moving out.
