No they wouldn't, that was the best part about past GTA games, spotting celebrities in the game. I think they have to start think what fans would want not themselfs.

Eyeco4185d ago

I could not believe the ammount of celebrities in San Andreas they all done a terrific job , Ice T as the Pimp was a believable ass hole, James Woods was incredible, Samuel L Jackson, Chris Penn, Dennis Hopper, it was all amazing I had no idea who voiced these characters untill the end credits i was like "wow"

guitarded774185d ago

Don't forget David Cross... he was kinda an obscure celeb at the time, but one of my favorite comedians. Too much star power can turn out ugly sometimes though... example - Star Wars Episode I - III.

paydayp4185d ago

there are celebs but not in major roles so you can still try to spot them

tigertron4185d ago

Samuel L Jackson as Officer Tenpenny was a great casting choice!

jony_dols4185d ago (Edited 4185d ago )

As was Chris Penn, Ice-T & Danny Dyer in San Andreas. And of course Dennis Hopper, Ray Liotta & countless others in Vice City. Even GTA 4 had Ricky Gervais & Iggy Pop.

Come'on Rockstar, celeb voices really add to the games! Unknown's like Rob Wiethoff (aka John Marston) & Michael Hollick (Niko Bellic) are still great, but the odd cameo is all part of the GTA experience!

Eyeco4185d ago

who did Iggy Pop play, thats impressive. I loved Ray Liotta as Tommy Vercetti he played the likeable dirt bag really well

jony_dols4185d ago (Edited 4185d ago )

@Eyeco: Accidentally put Iggy down on the Vice City list! But he was the DJ on Liberty Rock in GTA 4. Here you go (if you haven't heard!)

you know im starting to think that R* thinks that they know everything since they are in better position that they were in the PS2 days. word of advice rockstar don't bite the hand that feeds you. we built you, you didn't build yourselves.

Jinkies4185d ago (Edited 4185d ago )

We built them and we can destroy them

I hope they remember that

It does seem they are getting big headed.

I really feel like both your comments are silly as hell and unnecessarily aggressive toward Rockstar. If it turns out to suck, then voice your opinion about it. If you're skeptical, then fine. But to take responsibility for their work, or threatening their creative process is just petty and egotistical.

You helped fund GTA. Yes.
You have no experience or creative talent that has afforded you to join a development team, and make creative decisions involving artistic / gameplay design.

The only credibility you have is that you've played past games and presumably enjoyed them, so as a fan you're entitled to give your opinions. But being a prick about it frankly doesn't reflect your appreciation for the experiences they've built for you, and IMO renders your opinion pretty moot.

That being said, I have very much enjoyed some of the celebrity actors in the past. They've all done a fantastic job. However, I usually prefer in films to get new and budding actors that are less well known, since it affords the viewer a chance to get lost in their character. When it's constantly a recognized celebrity, he/she starts to lose their importance and it becomes almost fabricated.

So, if Rockstar has decided to use new actors to add freshness and uniqueness to the experience, I'm ALL for it.

If Rockstar decided to use new and not-well known actors to save money? Then obviously that's no good. But going by their track record, and the care they put in for their craft, I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt.

peace

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing692d ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos2d ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy852d ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

Demetrius1d 17h ago

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
