Liberi Fatali has to be #1 for me. Very good list you have though. I like it.

izumo_lee4180d ago

Thanks!

I agree Liberi Fatali has to be one of the best intro themes to a Final Fantasy game EVER!

For me i tend to enjoy the slower more emotional songs for the series cause they bring me calm & relaxation.

Either way the music of the Final Fantasy series are forever etched in the memories of those fortunate enough to have played these games.

Pozzle4179d ago

NGL, Liberi Fatali is one of the main reasons I bought FFVIII. I saw the intro to FFVIII playing in EB Games waaaay back when the game was first released. I barely remembered the cutscene itself, but the song stuck in my head for months while I saved up my money for it. :)

NeXXXuS4180d ago

To me, Final Fantasy VIII has been the one I have most connected with. More because it has more connectivity with other people as well because of where it starts out. The garden can easily relate to school (which is technically what garden is), and because friends are made along the way and have struggles together. It is easily one of the greatest Final Fantasy games that was ever made.

RPG12014180d ago

Trisection from FFT- really gives me goosebumps... specially after those final hard earned battles! BTW compositions are not my cup of tea at all... J-e-n-o-v-a was completely broken... (in my opinion) Birth of a God is really epic. One winged angels is done to death (almost a cliche) but that is the culmination of that whole game in my view. FFVII, FFVIII and FFT are my personal favorite gotta have those in my car at all times.

Snookies124180d ago (Edited 4180d ago )

Hahaha, you keep copies of FFVII, VIII, and FFT in your car? That's awesome man! I have hard copies of every FF up to FFX, (I have XII and XIII/XIII-2, but they're not quite the same caliber in my opinion.) as well as digital copies for those that I CAN get digitals of...

It was probably the most defining game series of my childhood. I owe a lot of that to Uematsu-san, his music was an integral part of the series' lifeblood.

Pozzle4180d ago

I love love love Someday The Dream Will End. I know a lot of people think To Zanarkand is the best FFX tune, but STDWE is easily my favorite. I remember walking into Zanarkand the very fist time and getting shivers as soon as the haunting music started paying.

I have such a soft spot for FFVIII's music too. I'd even go as far to say it's my favorite Final Fantasy soundtrack, so I couldn't pick my all-time favorite. Though I do have a soft spot for The Extreme, but I LOVED Succession of the Witches. It's just so goddamned CREEPY!

And One Winged Angel is really good too, but I always preferred Sephiroth's main theme Those Chosen by the Planet. It was eerie and always creeped me out whenever Sephiroth showed up and the song started playing. It just fits the tone of his scenes so well without any need for lyrics or an epic orchestra.

I could go on, but I'd end up writing an essay. lol

It's insane its been this long since the last release.

CrimsonWing6912d ago

Not from you.

Knowing how you handled FF16 by trying to make it appeal to non-fans and changing the entire gameplay design I can see you changing Tactics to appeal to non-fans.

If they’re going to do this please give it to someone who wants to keep the game and genre in tact.

VersusDMC12d ago

He worked on tactics ogre reborn. Was there changes? He wouldn't make an FF tactics game an action game. It will be AA but faithful. Probably what the Diofield Chronicles team and some of the FFXVI team is probably working on already and he is just keeping a secret.

And FF hasn't had a set gameplay design since X. I disliked the MMO, 12, 13 FF's but didn't mald for years. I played other games. Stop crying as he probably won't make a single player FF again and will be busy with the next FF MMO.

EternalTitan12d ago

I can feel your hatred. Keep it up.

Ataraxias12d ago

Tactics Ogre Reborn was an overall solid product but almost eliminated the concept of builds in the game.
So we'd probably end up with a system where character jobs like Mercenary for Ramza is 80% of the character instead of being freeform.

SegaSaturn66912d ago

Tactics Ogre Reborn changed a lot of gameplay mechanics for the worse. The class system is weird and hard to lock in roles, and they shoehorned a new "random card appearing" mechanic on the maps which makes no sense. Previously you obtained those boosts from killing powerful opponents, not spawning randomly.

There's a way better way to play Tactics Ogre: the fanmade onevision mod of the psp version.

EternalTitan12d ago

16 was just a terrible mess.
Its not even a JRPG let alone a final fantasy game.
Yosi piss(who said he hates JRPGs) should not touch another Final Fantasy game ever again.

VersusDMC12d ago

87 metacritic can't be a terrible mess.
If Kingdom Hearts is a JRPG then FFXVI is a JRPG. And he said he hates the term JRPG as it carries a bad stereotype with western journalists.

So you're just incorrect on several fronts...

Asterphoenix11d ago

I wouldn't mind a new FF Tactics longs they keep the tactical elements of Tactics in it as well as a very in depth story. Which FF Tactics years ago has by far one of the best stories in the series.

Tapani11d ago

Yes, alongside with Vagrant Story. Playing FFT, then Vagrant story and finally FFXII is a bliss. Deepest lore and best stories ever made in video games.

Stop remaking PS4 games!
Remake PS1 and PS2 games à la FF7R, RE1, Mafia, Half Life style ....
Make Legend of Dragoon, Legacy of Kain etc Remakes happen

darthv7215d ago

Legend of Dragoon... WTH is Sony doing just letting this one squander?

-Foxtrot15d ago

I wonder if their mindset is like “meh we have Final Fantasy what’s the point of our own JRPG”

FinalFantasyFanatic15d ago

@-Foxtrot,
Square-Enix had a long period there where it seems they didn't know what to do with Final Fantasy, I think that time period would have been a good time to revisit their classics and remake them. Now it seems they're going full steam ahead with the franchise, so they have less reason to revisit those older games. I wouldn't mind if they subcontracted them out to other developers, that and I don't trust SE to remake their older games.

Cacabunga14d ago

Simply because i do not think it will succeed.. maybe a bad example but e we got Medievil remake after many years fans have beg asking... result is It flopped hard. Remaking a JRPG is so risky. Only a bunch of hardcore gamers who played the original would buy it. If Sony put even more budget into it then it’s even more risky.

As i suggested before, i think they should start remaking like square did with Star Ocean. Or something similar to Octopath Traveller. Build up some hype and try on higher scale later on..

Terry_B15d ago

Let me tell you about PS1 games that should get a remake actually.

Jumping Flash (As a VR game)
Ridge Racer 1-4 as Ridge Racers 3..just like the pretty perfect PSP RR1.-2 games but with even more content
Xenogears
Cardinal Sin which was full of nice ideas for its time but was plagued by technical limitations
Bushido Blade ^^ just like CS
Bust A Groove.
WWF Attitude. With the same roster, same voices,Only slightly updated gameplay but current gen graphics
Dynasty Warriors..yes the fighting game that was similar to Tekken 2 while it had weapons. As nice as the DW games are..its a shame they never released a new fighting game

And while I am at it.

Thrill Kill ...hell yes.

KyRo15d ago

Ah Thrill Kill, the game that was banned/cancelled but everyone had played 😂 what a throwback!

darthv7215d ago

jumping Flash would make a great VR game. Im actually quite surprised nobody has thought to do that one... even on the indie side for something like the meta quest.

GhostMirror15d ago

Big yes to Jumping Flash! and Ridge Racer revivals. Bushido Blade was cool as well; it was pretty deep and so much different from other fighting games at the time. Einhander was another good non-RPG from Square, which was kind of rare for them in that era.

Didn’t Thrill Kill eventually get re-skinned and released with a Wu-Tang Clan license? 😂

FinalFantasyFanatic15d ago

I miss Ridge Racer so much, give me a new game or at least a collection of the older games! I had a blast playing Ridge Racer PSP on my PS4 a few months back.

I cannot understand the current business practice of remaking games from the previous generation, especially when they are very much playable today and still hold up well, it's even worse when people are willing buying them again. The PS1 generation is so ripe for remakes, I know more than a few people who would clamour for a Xenogears remake, or almost any game from that list.

Ravenkiss15d ago

and Valkyrie Profile Lenneth. They did Star Ocean 1 & 2 R already, VPL should get the same treatment.

Redgrave15d ago

I assume this to mean that you aren't considering the PSP port to be the remake in this statement? Like a remake of that one?

FinalFantasyFanatic15d ago

That version is quite old though, that was 18 years ago, so doing a remake in the vain of Star Ocean might be worth it (I did not think the PSP was that old until I looked it up).

Knightofelemia15d ago

I'd be down for FF8, and Xenogears. But I would also be down for Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. And I wish Namco would get off their ass and remake or remaster the Xenosaga trilogy.

FinalFantasyFanatic15d ago

There's been talk of a Xenosaga trilogy on the proviso that there was enough demand, I hope that actually happens one day.
