I turned to darkside paid whopping £600 back then had 3 consoles in that time still best console to date this gen.
Now course retired to PC doesnt mean i miss my god of war GT5, name but a few uncharted series, killzone series... Modnation racers, infamous series.... Little big planet series list goes on.

Oh cant forget HOME won lots free stuff.

At this point of time EVERYONE should have at least 2 consoles if not all 3 of them, especially if you're searching through gaming websites.

I agree with you. His article is a little contradicting. First he rant about whats the point of a console war but then his titled his article "Turning to the Darkside a writer's tale about buying a PS3"
No matter how many consoles you have you will always have only one favorite. This is human nature. We like to defend things that we like. Even if 10000 people tell you that you are wrong, you will always believe that you are right and this very apparent when it comes to games.

Seriously, both the ps3, and xbox 360 are good. This is probably the best time to be a gamer because which ever console you pick you've made a good choice.

you guys thinking 2 much into it. it was a joke from 6 years ago when there were a lots hates, flack and bias against Sony specially here on n4g it was the frontline for console war. around that time a gaming magazine release an issues title battlestation. it was then whenever someone says there getting a ps3. or convinced into getting one. we would jokingly say welcome to the dark side and kinda got viral from there

I owned an Xbox 360 for about 4 months then sold it in favour of a PS3. Just found the Xbox didn't have any games that held my attention long enough at that time.

People who stand by a company out of loyalty are only punishing themselves at the end of the day.

If company A have been your preferred choice for X years yet company B have cheaper, technically superior hardware with more of what you want, then why stick with company A? In a word, stupidity.

I've bought all consoles last generation, first ps3, xbox, and then wii.

Have a pc gaming rig also.

I would always have my heart towards pc gaming simply imo its better to game most popular games ahem rts and fps on a PC.

But in terms of consoles the ps3 was better I bought it first and I still have it, the others I got rid of.

I've been told I am a PS3 fanboy, but I've had a good taste of all to make judgement...

ps3 this gen has offered much more vs the other consoles, maybe cuz I have a nice pc gaming rig to compensate for xbox "exclusive" gamse.

To me that seems a bit pointless though, I already spend a ton of money on my PC and buying both consoles on top of that would have been hugely redundant.

I did want a console though, so I had to weigh up what seemed like the best console to me at that point..

What would you get with a PC? I chose to get a PS3 simply because it had the more attractive library when I bought it.

Now if you didn't have a PC and could only afford the luxury of one console, then that is probably a harder decision to make, not everyone has the privilege of being able to buy multiple game consoles. This article does seem like the author is forgetting that owning a single console is more commonly a necessary choice. People need to weigh up pros and cons, and the people who have already made decisions influence the decisions of others, this is how fanboy wars start evidently, and it's usually the younger kids who are most involved.
When something is a gift from a parent kids get really defensive over it, they attach a sentimental value to it and will not accept criticism.
At the end of the day these fanboy wars exist everywhere for various reasons, simply stating the stupidity of it does not make it go away.

(at least it's not as bad as the dinosaur fanboys, seriously go and watch a T-rex vs Spinosaurus video on youtube. You will be amazed.)

The only thing that has kept me from buying an Xbox is that in order to play online I have to pay and I really don't feel like I need to pay for that. I never had to, wether on ps3 or pc etc

well the Darkside is now part of Disney so..

but yeah for me the playstation 3 offered the most, as well as good stablity. i don't think i need to say why you get more out the playsation memory(emotional brain memory not actual hardrive memory) wise and value wise.
