January 31, 2013 in Japan!

Why? Surely this would have done better if released at Christmas. Perhaps Sony think the games will get more traction after the Wiiu launches?

sinncross4186d ago (Edited 4186d ago )

This is Japan... christmas means absolutely nothing to them, its just a day to spend with your family (in fact, its a working day for everyone unless you take leave)

But yes, its a big delay.
Probably due to translation like Spike having an original Japanese name in Ape Escape (whereas Spike is a brand new name for the West).

Perhaps little things like this

GribbleGrunger4186d ago

I know they don't celebrate Christmas the same as the West does, but they do get a huge chunk of cash during the Christmas period, so surely their more likely to buy a console or game that time of the year? Isn't that why, even though they don't shop because of Christmas, console sales go up in unison with the rest of the world?

ForgottenProphecy4186d ago

Actually, Spike is now where near a brand new name for the West. In fact, Ape Escape was my favorite game as a child, back in the 90's. No, I didn't import the game. Ape Escape might be a Japanese game, but it was brought over here fairly quickly.

sinncross4186d ago

'brand new name'

which is exactly what it is... I know its an old game but in the original Japanese version his name is Kakeru hence my comment on Spike being a new name for the Western release.

ThePsychoGamer4186d ago

No, I doubt the delay was because of the WiiU, keep in mind that next next instalment in a playstation franchise that is very popular in Japan is coming out in December, I think that has more to do with it.

GraveLord4186d ago

I'm betting the Japanese version will include a character like Cloud or Sephiroth. Characters we will have as DLC.

RmanX10004186d ago

Thats quite a delay 0_o wonder why...

Darth Stewie4186d ago (Edited 4186d ago )

That sucks for Japan maybe Sony delayed it because the Japanese version will get a free extra character like Cloud which would be DLC for everybody else.

Also Wow big price difference between physical from digital copies.

MikeMyers4186d ago

Digital copies should be cheaper, glad to see Sony pushing that notion.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Launched 10 Years Too Early

Though PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale is a bit of a cult classic, it could have been a big hit if it launched in 2022 instead of 2012.

It wouldn't have mattered, Sony would've rushed it out and left it to die. More so now than before with their focus now being on SP narrative driven AAA games.

CrimsonWing69520d ago

Oh, but somehow Smash Bros. 64 made it work?

It just couldn’t compete with Smash Bros. and it wasn’t a free-to-play game like Multiversus.

PapaBop520d ago

I think it released at the right time. It's just after the success of Smash and Multiversus, it's finally time for a sequel.

spoonard520d ago

I'd be all in on a remake or remaster of the original. I enjoyed it because I didn't sit there and compare every aspect to SSB. I just enjoyed it as it was.

Magatsuhi520d ago

Sony should make part 2 and dump a good amount of money on it. Scrap super only kills and it's bound to succeed.

Father__Merrin520d ago

Yes the power kills spoilt it completely WTH was they thinking you should have hp bar that's it

God of War: Ragnarok Weirdly Makes PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Canon

God of War: Ragnarok has plenty of fun references to PlayStation history, but now fans have discovered a conversation that calls back to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale — the crossover fighting game released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Nyxus527d ago

I wouldn't say canon. More like an easter egg.

Deathdeliverer526d ago

That’s interesting. It actually does make it canon lol. He mentioned it in a mainline game. I’d say that’s pretty cool.
