David of GamesRadar - I was playing XCOM: Enemy Unknown the other day. This should come as no surprise, as playing XCOM: Enemy Unknown is basically all I do these days. But this time was a bit different. Having recognised that the game is clearly ruining my life, I’d decided to claw back a bit of the social interaction that Firaxis’ compulsive beauty has been robbing me of lately. So I was trying out the multiplayer.
We got a hands-on look at SAND LAND, including a peek at the all new Forest Land in game.
We got scared silly in Don't Be Afraid. And still we cannot wait for the sequel, especially now that Don't Be Afraid 2 has been confirmed.
Is Capcom justified in releasing the game with 21 downloadable items?
all which you can earn IN THE GAME BY PLAYING.. sheesh.. people need to chill and stop trippin'.
capcom has done this with every resi game since 2, with devil may cry 4 and 5.
we should be complaining about the poor Performance
I'll be handing out homework In the form of research on the essence of the boiling frog syndrome because the comments already are afflicted with this.
*Performance comment Is spot on 5+ points.
Accepting that these publishers have these types of mtx In games Is tiring, "well, they've done it with their other IP" so should we accept it? Your acceptance of it happening is ruining gaming, just to make it clear.
But it's okay though, you can earn the stuff ingame. 🙃
I pretty much agree with this article. Tbh, that's the one thing that's made me a little sad about Halo 4. They had a system, that was really pure. You win, you level up. You lose you don't. Halo 3 was much like Super Street Fighter IV for me and I play those games still. It's another reason why I play gears. I am atleast hap that Halo 4 is using a different take on progression, but it just rather have none.
good read and i agree
Great article. I agree. "Back in the day" (ohhh I'm showing my age) with action games like the Quakes, Unreal Tournament, Tribes, Warcraft 2, etc. you simply played the games and enjoyed them. Other than the score that you saw at the end of the match, there was no levelling up, no leaderboards, no achievements, nothing.
Granted, it IS fun to level up and get all sorts of little perks, but then it turns into a treadmill just to get to the next level. I wish developers would FIRST make a game really fun (regardless of any level-up treadmills) and then add in that stuff later if need be instead of designing the game from the ground up that way.
Some random person I've never met, can't determine weather or not I've increased or decreased in skill as a gamer.
He is saying he knows what games do to over 150+ million people......Yet He's never met any of them.
Pretty ignorant right ?
Good read.
I always compared the difference as grinding skill or grinding gear/XP. Street Fighters (and other fighting game players) grind skill. MMORPG players (and the like) grind gear/XP.
I can't wait to try out the XCOM MP now! Well, as soon as I finish my Classic difficulty run.
