Watch Assassin’s Creed III Confuse the Hell Out of a Cat

Kotaku - Assassin's Creed III is a dazzling looking game. But it's not only the game's accurate recreations of Colonial America that impress, but also its realistic portrayal of dogs. Don't believe me? Just ask this cat.

Myst4184d ago

Lol it's a good thing that cat didn't try to scratch the TV.

SolidStoner4183d ago

it was Smartcat, or "I cat"..

he was exploring the environment, and failed behind the TV! Look how the cat puts his tail when he learns that there is nothing behind the magic box, and the only way to get that dog is with console controller!!

hennessey864184d ago

It kept goin behind the tv to look for the dog was ic

-Mezzo-4184d ago

Throughout the whole video, i was worried that the TV might fall.

phinch4184d ago

You forgot to put your sunglasses on and the "YEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAH"

GamerElite4183d ago (Edited 4183d ago )

WOW, the fact that the cat looked behind the TV when the animal went off the screen is quite incredible

KwietStorm_BLM4184d ago

You've never seen a cat do that before?

GribbleGrunger4184d ago (Edited 4184d ago )

Whether I have or haven't, consider what the cat is doing there. It isn't assuming the animal disappeared, it's actually taking the 3D environment in the game into consideration and adjusting it's perception to that, hence it's worked out that it 'must' have moved into the real world 3D space and disappeared 'behind' the TV. That is incredible. I'd bet that even an infant would think it had disappeared and wouldn't think it had gone behind the TV.

That is an experiment well worth looking into for any animal psychologist. Don't make the mistake of thinking the cat has the same visual mechanism as we do; it doesn't, but this shows its spacial awareness could be better than a humans. Even if the conclusion it came to was incorrect, it shows a degree of intelligence beyond what you would expect for our four-legged-furry friends.

That's interesting s**t.

KwietStorm_BLM4184d ago

You just made it more dramatic than it is. All I was saying is that cats do exactly what this cat did. That's what they do. That's not the first cat to do it, and I was just a little surprised at how incredible you thought it was, because I figured everybody had seen a cat do this before.

GribbleGrunger4184d ago (Edited 4184d ago )

Well, yes, you see it as 'this is what cats do' while I see it as 'it's fascinating to understands why cats do that'. I guess I'm just more inquisitive. You may look at a bomb going off and just think 'that's what bombs do', while I would think 'I wonder what physics are involved'... or when you see a car moving forward, you might think 'that's what cars do' while I would think 'I'd like to know how an engine works'.

Bethesda makes the most consistently stupid NPCs, like really bad... yet I still can't help but love playing their games. Guilty pleasure, I guess. *sigh* 😩

How did redfall not make the cut.

Every Bethesda game and Every Halo game. This list needed to have Cyberpunk somewhere.

My first thought was the safe rooms in the resident evil series. When you hear that enchanting music you know you’re safe.

Killer2020UK268d ago

I literally just came here to post this. That music in the Resi 1 safe rooms is playing in my head.

Rimeskeem267d ago

I was thinking TLOU work benches. Although I remember one time where it was a false security.

Perfect. 👌👌

I'd add the top of my highrise apartment in GTA Online. That calm, quiet peace, just knowing as soon as I step out that door I will be bombarded by 8 and 12 year olds calling each other n**** and f****, trolled by combat jets and rocket launchers.

The entire map of SotC is peaceful as hell. Used to just ride around exploring it.

mastershredder267d ago (Edited 267d ago )

Afterlife in Cyberpunk 2077 is a peaceful area? Erm, hands down and very hard to miss, Misty Olszewski's Esoterica is the absolute epitome of peaceful areas in that game.

raiden_188267d ago

The "last of us" deer location i found to be a welcoming respite. It was nice to not have someone trying to eat me.

Kingdom Hearts tend to present half peaceful areas and most of them are amazing.

'Assassin’s Creed III': Ten Years Later

With the recent reveal of Assassin’s Creed Mirage and the promise that the series will return to its roots, there hasn’t been a better time to get stuck into Assassin’s Creed’s back catalog, whether it’s replaying an old favorite or getting lost in previously looked-over classic.

Ten years later, we miss the old you, Assassin's Creed.

Popsicle542d ago (Edited 542d ago )

I really enjoyed Assassins Creed 3. My only complaint was that I didn’t enjoy when I had to switch from Connor to Desmond. It’s a personal preference, but Connor’s story was just more fun for me.

On a side note, Black flag was the most enjoyable of the AC games I played.
