Capcom: Resident Evil 6 has been successful "to some degree"

EG:In a Q&A published today on its investor site following the release of its second quarter financial year 2012 results, Capcom remained cautious about the high-profile action horror sequel, which has a Metascore of 67 on Xbox 360 and 75 on PlayStation 3.

LOL

“We therefore believe it is too early to reach a conclusion about how users view the game"

Really, jesus christ Capcom how much denial can you be in. The majority of people thougjt it was crap, look at the reviews and complaints for god sake. Sales mean nothing, it dosent mean a game is good, this is why buying a game to "give it a chance" is always bad when you know deep down it will most likley suck

I love how they said they will listen to complaints, they didnt do that after RE5, I mean co-op is still in it for a start and it was a massive action game, two of the biggest complaints from RE5 were ignored.

Monstar4187d ago

RE5 comes out...

We want zombies!
We want to move while shooting!
We want more of the original story!

RE6 comes out...

Nevermind. We don't want any of that, for some reason.

Simply, amazing.

Just STFU. And NO the majority don't hate it, forums, nastaligic reviews don't mean shit...these are whining crybabies who don't know what they want. Besides why should Capcom care when the changes done to Resident Evil has given them more money? RE5 sold better than past RE titles. RE6 is sure to do well too. Accept that and move on.

Jinkies4187d ago (Edited 4187d ago )

Whiny crybabies.....like what your doing now.

How immature...buble down

Unlimax4187d ago (Edited 4187d ago )

So you are ok with that even if the series will keep going at the same current level , people like you are really going to ruin the gaming industry with their "CHANGE" idea's !

If you personally see what capcom did is a change for the franchise the original Survival horror is Change too from now on .. the military mainstream Hollywood TPS style is getting old so fast these days , whether you accept or not people are not that stupid to accept what capcom want's from "the COD public" over the legendary series that been ruined by capcom policy recently , you simply don't care what the fate of the series is , you don't care what the world wants yet you still want more of that to come and we staring at you with silence .

You wanna know what the best for the series

simple and with all respect >>> S H U T UP !

@Monstar

Oh here we go again another guy that just doesn't get it.
Forget about the older games Resident Evil is a bad action game that's why people don't like it.

Go enjoy your Michael Bay videogames until the next one comes along and you can count on people not caring about RE6 by next year.
You know why? because it's boring.
Shoot the enemies....move on.....shoot the enemies.....move on......clunky controls, poor camera and a broken cover and QTE system.
Oh wait though it's because we're all nostalgic fools and want static camera's yeah that's why Resident Evil 4 was met with critical acclaim and considered the best in the series but let's not mention that because we're stuck in the past yeah we need to embrace this awesome innovative change to resident evil that is a mediocre generic third person shooter....how original.

Ben_Grimm4187d ago

I agree with Monstar, take for example people on N4G who complain and whine about CoD being the same game over and over again. How they cry out for it to be changed in some way.
(even though it does change)

How long do you think RE would be able to turn out more of Code Veronica style gameplay before the rabid folks here would start to say the samething? How RE has become stale and the same thing over and over again.

And then you have to take into account the actual story, yes for me it's a little too much on the action Michael Bay side but considering where the story was headed from 4 what did you all expect?

"Really, jesus christ Capcom how much denial can you be in"

RE 6 has sold over 4.5 nillion copies world wide...why would they be denial. If anything they are happy that they changed the formula in RE6.

We hardcore gamers on N4G and other sites are a minority compared to the casuals who play games instead of trolling gamesing websites.

I was pissed that CAPCOM took this new direction with RE5 and 6 but I got over it and moved and you should too.

In order for Company to survive they need to change, its either that or make Call of Duty eat your lunch.

GraveLord4187d ago

1. Western reviews aren't a good way to judge a Japanese game. Especially not user reviews.
2. Resident Evil IS a Japanese game. Some may not realize that because of how "western" it may seem now.
3. Game is selling well. So obviously they did something right.

ritsuka6664187d ago (Edited 4187d ago )

Capcom recently revised down its shipped expectations for Resi 6 from seven million to six million. Why?"

Maybe because people are disappointed in this game and returned again for stores? Anyway,Resident 6 sell good in 1st week because of the name, after that this happens.

medziarz4187d ago

most likely because the thought the reviews aren't going to bash it

NYC_Gamer4187d ago

Capcom=mediocre studio now days...

shodan744187d ago (Edited 4187d ago )

I really hope that the mixed critical reception of RE6 - and it's clearly less-than-expected commercial performance - makes Capcom think long and hard about the future direction of the series.

Create a proper survival-horror reboot for God's sake! The audience IS there for it.

Monstar4187d ago

The Survival horror genre is simply dead, the core audience for it ISN'T there, why do you think RE went this direction?

Capcom will not make nearly enough if it just stuck to a slow paced surival horror ALA the classics. They could only fine tune another action horror. It's the COD generation and Capcom is all about the MONEY. Do the math. They won't change anything.

Go back and play Resident Evil 6 on pro, i bet most of you won't even have enough ammo left, let a lone beat it. The core mechanics in RE6 and overall quality of the game is well done, best Melee system IMO and a very well done gameplay mechanic..expecially when given the time to master, so get you heads out of the f'en past and give it a shot or move on to something else.

shodan744187d ago

The core audience IS there. Amnesia: The Dark Descent has sold 1.4 million, solely through digital distribution on the PC and without the backing of a major publisher. Imagine what a great horror game served-up by a major publisher across multiple platforms could achieve.

There are millions of neglected horror fans out there just waiting for another great console horror to arrive. Not everything has to pander to the COD audience, and a huge number of gamers are getting mightily bored with this endless stream of bland, bombastic shooters.

SlxTeN4187d ago (Edited 4187d ago )

just imagine if in movie industry every movie would be like James Bond movies.

FunAndGun4187d ago

Go back and play RE6 on pro?

hell, I couldn't even convince myself to finish the demo. ick!

-MD-4187d ago

5 and 6 are the only Resident Evil games I didn't buy out of the entire main series. I don't need to tell you why.

Irishguy954187d ago

Lucky you, I risked 50€ on RE5.

There Will Never Be Another Resident Evil 6 (And That Sucks)

A rough gem that may never get the proper treatment it deserves.

Terry_B404d ago

^^ I don't want what the author was smoking.

-Foxtrot404d ago

It’s this thing where after enough time people start coming out to defend bad games for some strange reason

I mean hey if you liked it good for you but it was a f****** awful RE game.

Capcom are finally back on track and now people are crying about their shitty mistakes? No thanks.

RpgSama402d ago

I'd take a full blown remake of RE6 based around a GREATLY expanded Leon part and make it even more horror.

That might be something I would be interested in, do not care about any of the other parts of that game.

MadLad402d ago

I couldn't even get through the demo.
Years later I bought it for $3 for PC. I played about 5 minutes into it and uninstalled it.

babadivad402d ago (Edited 402d ago )

RE6 was better than 5. RE6 just took the series to the conclusion that started with 4.

RE4 was the inaugural title in the action game trilogy.

RE9 will be the likely end of the first person psychological thriller trilogy.

They'll switch it up for RE10 or more likely titled RE-X.

hotnickles402d ago

5 is vastly better than 6 imo

TheEnigma313402d ago

RE5 is way better than 6. Stop lying to yourself

FallenAngel1984404d ago (Edited 404d ago )

“But all this is solely with respect to how fans felt back in 2013 when Resident Evil 6 had just been released. The game resulted in the series getting indefinitely killed off until 5 years later when we got Resident Evil 7 and balance was restored yet again. ”

1.) Resident Evil 6 came out in 2012, not 2013

2.) A series getting killed off means no titles at all released in a time period. Silent Hill, Dead Space, Dino Crisis, Parasite Eve & Siren fans would love to see how you can say RE was on the same level of dormancy. In that 5 year time period we had a number of remasters that kept the series alive and kicking. RE1 02ms remaster even broke sales records during the period between RE6 and RE7.

3. Way to disrespect Resident Evil: Revelations 2. It was released during that RE6-RE7 period. It along with its predecessor were mainline titles that kept the horror roots of the series alive in comparison to RE5 and RE6. RE: R1 in particular even introduced the ability to walk and shoot into the series, a feature we can all be grateful for that in modern RE titles. The director RE: R1 later went on to direct RE7 and the director of RE: R2 later went to to direct the RE2 & RE4 remakes.

Immagaiden403d ago (Edited 403d ago )

“Resident Evil 6 is often maligned as the worst entry in the Resident Evil series and is cited as the cause behind the long death of the franchise.”

Titles in the Resident Evil series such as Survivor, Gaiden, Dead Aim, Outbreak, Operation Raccoon City, Umbrella Corps, & Resistance we’re received far worse than RE6.

And death of the franchise?

RE6 was still one of the most commercially successful games in the series, guaranteeing the franchise’s future. Compare how underwhelming sales of Dead Space 3, Silent Hill: Downpour. Alone in the Dark: Illumination, Dino Crisis 3, Fatal Frame: Maiden in Black Water, Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2, and Metroid: Other M which caused their respective series to go into a long period of dormancy without any rereleases to even keep activity up.

RE however still had a significant number of titles released and rereleased after RE6. Not only that but development for RE7 started a short time after its predecessor came out, meaning there was never a development time that the series could be considered dead. There hasn’t been a single year that Capcom stopped either developing, releasing, or rereleasing Resident Evil games. Let’s not act like the 5 year period between RE6 and RE7 is such a longer time compared to the 4 year period between RE4 and RE5 as well as RE7 and RE8. We can pretty much expect RE9 in either 2025 or 2026, and you can be certain that Capcom will still release other RE tiles leading up to it

TheEnigma313402d ago (Edited 402d ago )

Man go some where with this. Only a few like this game. Why would they remake a garbage game no one likes risking money because it won't sell? RE 6 is dumpster drippings, sorry.

MIDGETonSTILTS17402d ago

It wasn’t that good, even if you enjoyed it like me.
