Battlefield 4 Rumors - Female characters, platforms, release date, commander role, voice commands

DSOGaming writes: "Okay Battlefield fans, time for some rumors about the fourth part of this acclaimed series. ChipHell‘s member ‘Archangel’ has shared some new details about DICE’s upcoming FPS title, details that are said to be coming straight from EA’s chinese team that participated in an internal Battlefield 4 conference. During that conference, the alpha version of Battlefield 4 was showcased and according to the American employees of the chinese department, Battlefield 4 is powered by Frostbite 2 and will stress this engine at 80% (it was said that Battlefield 3 pushed only 30-40% of what the engine is capable of)."

I figured that it would be next-gen. I just hope it isn't Battlefield 3 running on more powerful hardware with a 4 after it, change it up a bit DICE!

Yi-Long4190d ago

... not 'Battlefield of Duty', which the last one was.

I really love the proper Battlefield gameplay, but Battlefield 3 had too few REAL Battlefield maps where you had that great Battlefield 'freedom'.

christheredhead4190d ago

I agree. That was my one main complaint. Far to many maps were essentially a hallway by design. You had a straight line to move forward or backward on and that's about it.

da_2pacalypse4190d ago (Edited 4190d ago )

This is the problem with EA. Even when they have something that's awesome, for some reason they feel the need to streamline it towards their main competitor's product.

GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEAD EA!!!

If your product is similar to your competitor that already owns a majority market share, you're not going to win any new customers over. This is marketing 101, do something unique that sets your product apart from your main competitor!

papashango4190d ago (Edited 4190d ago )

so according to this rumor battlefield 4 is going to be like the battlefield that came out in 2005 minus mod tools....

joy

NVIDIAGeek4189d ago

That's what people started asking when BF3 was first announced. Look what we got.

But, I hope this time they learn their lessons.

DeadlyFire4189d ago

@papashango

The way it should have been all along. An actual sequel to that game that came out in 2005.

I might actually want to buy this new one and kick ass on it.

JasonXS124189d ago

Yea, the maps had a lot of useless places that only campers would ever go to. Also putting the game into environments with large buildings or enclosed structures really ruined the destruction aspect compared to BFBC2 where the whole map was destructible. It didn't have the feel of BF2. Frostbite looks alright but not great as everyone says. The movement aspect of BF3 was the worst part to me. The legs jumping over stuff just limited the efficiency of quickly jumping about.

interesting. it seems if true, the console war would really heat up with both the ps4 and xbox720 launching in the same year.

john24190d ago (Edited 4190d ago )

the interesting thing here is that if the tentative release date is true, PS4 and X720 will hit streets on October 2013 (and that BF4 will be a launch title). However, this seems unlikely IMO as these consoles will most likely be revealed in E3. An E3 reveal means that both MS and Sony will need 6 months at least to prepare for a launch (and that's an optimistic scenario). Perhaps EA will release the current-generation version on October and delay the next-generation version? Or they might delay all versions of BF4.

blue_cheese4190d ago (Edited 4190d ago )

there are a few articles about how microsoft has already started production on the xbox720.

DeadlyFire4189d ago

I predict Fall 2013-Spring 2014 for launch of both consoles.

Production numbers will be key to keeping it from selling out. Microsoft knows this and they are preping early. Not a bad idea.

dazzrazz4190d ago

Also game will require year after the release date patching due to the fact EA had to ship to fit into holidays window and battle call of doody modern warfare 4. Up to %80 engine efficiency wow.... does that mean we will be missing audio in vehicles even more ? lol :D Current battlefield was nothing more than a $90 entry beta if you got into whole premium thing :>

LPH244190d ago

How can current-gen handle BF4 if its using more then twice of the power of BF3? I can't wait to see this...

Battlefield 1, Hardline, BF4 Servers Are Being Taken Offline by Cheaters; EA Silent on Issue

Cheaters & hackers have been causing grief on Battlefield 1, Hardline & BF4 servers, with nonstop DDoS attacks among other things. Unfortunately, EA has remained silent about it.

-Foxtrot758d ago

Course they are silent, they are hoping people flock to 2042

gamesftw250757d ago

Maybe it was a inside job then haha.

jeromeface756d ago

wouldnt be the first time, titanfall 1+2 anyone?

PapaBop757d ago

Not even if they paid me.. EA always do this with old games with less money potential, if this was Ultimate Team, they'd address and sort it faster than stories could spread. Why invest time in their products when they will just dump it in the following years? Then again EA never could see the forest for the trees.

Inverno757d ago

I imagine after those games were given out for free a couple months back through Amazon, anything that makes people go to 2042 is a plus for them

XiNatsuDragnel758d ago

They want people to go on 2042. My theory

excaliburps757d ago

Nah. I think they can't do anything about it or they want to sink money into fixing it.

Pudge102888757d ago (Edited 757d ago )

EA owns all BF servers so yes, they can do something about it but they refuse to because they dont want ppl playing their old games instead of the new one. Its EA we’re talking about here

pr33k33757d ago

if this happened in 2042, they'd have something to say. which is weird, considering battlefield 1 has more players on steam right now.

Pudge102888757d ago

Its so obvious that EA is doing this or hired ppl to mess up the games so that we’d be forced to have just 1 Battlefield working.

FPS_D3TH757d ago

Honestly it’s probably the devs themselves. They did an update to bf4 way back that kinda made assault rifles doo doo in hopes that people would flock to BF1 cuz BF4 was too perfect

There's a bunch of great shooters on gamepass; both legacy and new.

A recommendation I have is a work in progress preview title called Anacrusis. It's a lot of fun, and has a cool aesthetic.

5 Games That Started Out As A Buggy Mess

KeenGamer: "Sometimes a game starts out as a buggy mess and we all just stop and think, “that definitely could have spent a bit more time in the oven”. This is the case for these 5 games which infamously marked their place in recent game memory."
