Wii U GamePad: The Future of Simulation Games

Could the Wii U GamePad's biggest and best applications be for simulation games?

These are the types of ideas that I can get behind. I really hope that devs really get behind this kind of thing.

Yes, i could see the controls such as suspension changes, diff changes, call pit, launch control and pit speed limiter being dials just like on a real F1 steering wheel!

Making the game more realistic if they can bring such realism in to a game rather then just point and steer etc.. the buttons at the back can be the gear box controls for up and down.

Except the gamepad doesn't have analog triggers. Only option would be dock the gamepad with a steering wheel of some sort (which is the best way of playing driving simulators anyway).

which I believe was mentioned in the article. if they could create a docking cradle for the gamepad like a steering wheel, everything's in place.

or perhaps you can still use the wii remote but dock it on a fixed-center steering base, and use the gamepad as supplementary controls for all the necessary sim functions.

everything here really is up to the devs how they can creatively use the given materials. with the wii u supporting almost all types of input for controls (motion controllers, gamepad with touchscreen, the standard pro controller, balance boards, etc.) the devs have so many options to choose from; and wii u supports a mix of controllers (i.e. one can use pro controller and the gamepad as supplement, at the same time), which makes the possibilities, well a whole lot.

Or u can just tilt the Wii U gamepad like a wiimote to the left or right without some kind of mount. It's realistic enough. :)

Cool cool, can I get a plastic little watch that when you push a button you hear a "wahoo"? I can't afford to waste 4k on a watch right now, but maybe later.
