Assassin's Creed III Review | Destructoid

Destructoid: "While the game is often quite fun, beautiful to look at and empowering to the player, it doesn't offer much challenge beyond the endurance necessary to complete all of the single-player campaign elements. That said, it does offer answers to many of the questions players have in terms of the series' plot up to now and is easy to become absorbed in. Fans of Assassin's Creed should be amply satisfied by these aspects, but some of the shallowness found might be displeasing to lovers of other open-world titles which do a better job of making player investment feel meaningful."

Dont judge by this review its a horrible review done.

LOGICWINS4189d ago (Edited 4189d ago )

Is the review ITSELF horrible, or is it horrible because of the score? Lets be real here. I think AC2 is one of the best games this gen, but Jim Sterling gave it a 4.5 from what I remember. Although I disagree, he backed up the score with valid reasoning on his part.

DOMination-4189d ago

Yes i agree. AC2 was brilliant imo but JS hated it. Fair enough it was his opinion and he explained why thoroughly at the time.

Npugz74189d ago

K obviously the reviewer doesn't like assassins creed! This is the lowest scored review I have seen yet when others have been giving 10/10 and 9/10

SpiralTear4189d ago

7.5 isn't by any stretch a terrible score, but with expectations so high for this game, I'm sure it's a shock. I'm still aiming to get this game, as I really think Ubisoft is making progressions with this series.

Sketchy_Galore4189d ago

The fact that it still has the automatic combat is the big turn off for me. I'm gonna wait a while for this one I think.

I canceled my Pre-order last night. I'll pick it up in a month or so probably.

LOGICWINS4189d ago

I'm actually gunna wait to get the entire collection in 2-3 years. I wouldn't be surprised if Ubi had the balls to release another $60 AC game next year.

Mykky4188d ago

The combat has new controls and although it does look the same it doesn't feel like it. You also have to watch out for red coats firing at you, if your not fast enough finding cover or using a human shield u can easily die. This may sound boring but it is fun and a little bit more strategic.

It's still a bit automatic though and it's not too challenging. Hope they tweak it even more in future AC games.

LLJAF4189d ago

It's not a bad review, it's just his opinion. It's really your own opinion that counts, if you liked the previous games then you'll love this one.

Games with the dumbest NPCs

Non-playable characters in certain games are meme material, thanks to their foolish behavior. These are the big-budget games with the dumbest NPCs.

Bethesda makes the most consistently stupid NPCs, like really bad... yet I still can't help but love playing their games. Guilty pleasure, I guess. *sigh* 😩

How did redfall not make the cut.

Every Bethesda game and Every Halo game. This list needed to have Cyberpunk somewhere.

My first thought was the safe rooms in the resident evil series. When you hear that enchanting music you know you’re safe.

Killer2020UK264d ago

I literally just came here to post this. That music in the Resi 1 safe rooms is playing in my head.

I was thinking TLOU work benches. Although I remember one time where it was a false security.

Perfect. 👌👌

I'd add the top of my highrise apartment in GTA Online. That calm, quiet peace, just knowing as soon as I step out that door I will be bombarded by 8 and 12 year olds calling each other n**** and f****, trolled by combat jets and rocket launchers.

The entire map of SotC is peaceful as hell. Used to just ride around exploring it.

mastershredder264d ago (Edited 264d ago )

Afterlife in Cyberpunk 2077 is a peaceful area? Erm, hands down and very hard to miss, Misty Olszewski's Esoterica is the absolute epitome of peaceful areas in that game.

The "last of us" deer location i found to be a welcoming respite. It was nice to not have someone trying to eat me.

Kingdom Hearts tend to present half peaceful areas and most of them are amazing.

'Assassin’s Creed III': Ten Years Later

With the recent reveal of Assassin’s Creed Mirage and the promise that the series will return to its roots, there hasn’t been a better time to get stuck into Assassin’s Creed’s back catalog, whether it’s replaying an old favorite or getting lost in previously looked-over classic.

Ten years later, we miss the old you, Assassin's Creed.

I really enjoyed Assassins Creed 3. My only complaint was that I didn’t enjoy when I had to switch from Connor to Desmond. It’s a personal preference, but Connor’s story was just more fun for me.

On a side note, Black flag was the most enjoyable of the AC games I played.
