Ten Nintendo Innovations

Nintendo have always been innovators in the industry, driving the technology forward with unfaltering enthusiasm for new ideas. Some successful, others outright failures like the Virtual Boy, but always interesting.

Analouge controler, i was blown away by how much easier it was to control something using it then saw my psone with no analouge and was glad they brought out one with.

People always bash Nintendo but I think they always set the boat at first, which means it usually not perfect but opens up for other companies to follow

Very good article. While Nintendo hasn't always invented the technology (ie Analogue stick), they definitely seem to be the ones who make it become second nature. The Analogue stick, force feedback (rumble) in the controller, even analogue triggers from the Gamecube controller are now all standard things that started out as "gimmicks". We couldn't imagine playing games without any of that stuff, and who knows, the gamepad may make a secondary touch screen become mainstream. We will see what the controllers look like when the PS4 / 720 come along.

Force Feedback and Rumble Tech are different technologies. Other than steering wheels, I'm not sure there are force feedback controllers on consoles.

I still use the Gamecube controller on wii when playing Mario Kart (I hate motion controls).

Actually Force Feedback is a type of haptic technology, which provides stimulation back to the player in the form of rumbles or vibrations. So they are sort of the same thing I guess.

Nintendo does contribute great innovations to the industry from a control standpoint.. Some software innovations too.. Z-targeting started on ocarina of time & made it much more comfortable to attack enemies in 3D spaces..

They are a great company but i hate their hardware & 90% of the titles that gets released on em... We will see if wii u changes that in the near future.. Their 1st party games are the only reason i even support em.. I hope Bayonetta 2 looks nx gen graphically
