Meristation-First Review for AC3 8.5/10

Meristation Review for Assassin's Creed 3:

USE GOOGLE TRANSLATE (in spanish)

Following lessons by masters Altair and Ezio, Connor brings key new features to the Assassin's Creed series. Naval battles and leafy wilderness areas full of animals and tall trees fit nicely with the well-built historical setting of this American Revolutionary War. Wide and spectacular, only marred by inexcusable bugs, reduced draw distances, a slow-paced beginning and several AI flaws.

Reduced draw distances? That's kind of disappointing... Wonder if that might be better on the PC version? I dunno, I have all the others on console though.

wastedcells4188d ago (Edited 4188d ago )

Might be because of the landscape or the level of detail compared to the other games. I dont read spanish tho lol.. Guess we will see in 2 days!

Snookies124188d ago (Edited 4188d ago )

Yeah, I do realize this game looks much better and there is a LOT going on in it. Still, one of the main things I loved about the AC games, was getting up on the tallest tower and overlooking the entire landscape.

lociefer4188d ago (Edited 4188d ago )

i really hoped on the + side that the ending provided closure, cant really escape the feeling that they're gonna pull a mass effect 3 on this one

Campy da Camper4188d ago

@snookies. I am sure it will be fine. When you are up high you do not have all the rendering that goes on at ground level, i.e., people walking and stuff.

Nimblest-Assassin4188d ago (Edited 4188d ago )

Considering meritstation gave
AC a 7.5
AC2 an 8 (best in the series, imo)
ACB an 8.5
ACR an 8

and now AC3 an 8.5, the game is great.

They are usually around the mid to lower end in the reviews

I have it, and I love it... I actually liked the slow pace of the beginning

The game is great so far

YodaCracker4188d ago

Thanks Nimblest-Assassin, that really puts things into perspective.

MikeMyers4187d ago

Nimblest-Assassin, thanks for putting it all in perspective. The games looks very good.

Crazyglues4187d ago (Edited 4187d ago )

@ Nimblest-Assassin

Oh thanks, for putting things into perspective.

Because before that I was starting to think 8.5 might be a little low for what looks like it's going to be an epic game.

So now thanks to your detail explanation I see that in-fact they have given it one of the highest ratings for any of the AC Series...

so consider me back super excited.. Can't wait to get this...

I wish ratings would include what a site gave previous games, just so gamers can judge how they tend to score..

(Awesome Job Nimblest-Assassin..)

I never trust early reviews from unknown sites....
We'll see soon

ResidentEvil924188d ago

That site is not "unknown"

It is a big site in Spain.

LOGICWINS4188d ago

Unknown? Meristation has been doing reviews for years.

mt4188d ago

so It has to be 10 so you could trust the review ?

TheFinalEpisode4188d ago

@ResidentEvil92 & LOGIC
Unknown to me, never heard from it before and I'm not from spain
@mt
When did I say that?
A 10 from a site I don't know would mean nothing to me, however this lower scorce actually has me worried because early reviews are usually high...
I don't how you came to that conclusion at all

LOGICWINS4187d ago

"A 10 from a site I don't know would mean nothing to me, however this lower scorce actually has me worried because early reviews are usually high..."

You don't consider an 8.5 a high score? Yeah..I give up.

Games with the dumbest NPCs

Non-playable characters in certain games are meme material, thanks to their foolish behavior. These are the big-budget games with the dumbest NPCs.

Bethesda makes the most consistently stupid NPCs, like really bad... yet I still can't help but love playing their games. Guilty pleasure, I guess. *sigh* 😩

How did redfall not make the cut.

Every Bethesda game and Every Halo game. This list needed to have Cyberpunk somewhere.

My first thought was the safe rooms in the resident evil series. When you hear that enchanting music you know you’re safe.

Killer2020UK261d ago

I literally just came here to post this. That music in the Resi 1 safe rooms is playing in my head.

Rimeskeem261d ago

I was thinking TLOU work benches. Although I remember one time where it was a false security.

closed_account261d ago

Perfect. 👌👌

I'd add the top of my highrise apartment in GTA Online. That calm, quiet peace, just knowing as soon as I step out that door I will be bombarded by 8 and 12 year olds calling each other n**** and f****, trolled by combat jets and rocket launchers.

The entire map of SotC is peaceful as hell. Used to just ride around exploring it.

mastershredder261d ago (Edited 261d ago )

Afterlife in Cyberpunk 2077 is a peaceful area? Erm, hands down and very hard to miss, Misty Olszewski's Esoterica is the absolute epitome of peaceful areas in that game.

raiden_188261d ago

The "last of us" deer location i found to be a welcoming respite. It was nice to not have someone trying to eat me.

RPGer261d ago

Kingdom Hearts tend to present half peaceful areas and most of them are amazing.

'Assassin’s Creed III': Ten Years Later

With the recent reveal of Assassin’s Creed Mirage and the promise that the series will return to its roots, there hasn’t been a better time to get stuck into Assassin’s Creed’s back catalog, whether it’s replaying an old favorite or getting lost in previously looked-over classic.

Ten years later, we miss the old you, Assassin's Creed.

Popsicle535d ago (Edited 535d ago )

I really enjoyed Assassins Creed 3. My only complaint was that I didn’t enjoy when I had to switch from Connor to Desmond. It’s a personal preference, but Connor’s story was just more fun for me.

On a side note, Black flag was the most enjoyable of the AC games I played.
