From the article: "Whether this is indicative of the actual boot times of the Wii U remains to be seen, but I seriously doubt it. Probably just a marketing SNAFU by Nintendo."

^ Then why write a big post about it with the headline that you chose?

Ah yes, because you're a stereotypical game journalist making a flamey headline for hits. I get it now. ;)

We'll see how thing goes once it gets closer to release. That's the only way to tell with these things.

From a marketing standpoint, the boot time is significant. Nintendo's recent products (Wii, 3DS, Wii U) are really reliant on hands-on time and word of mouth for people to really latch onto the idea that this new method of gaming is important. If your demo machine can't do anything for over 2 minutes, then you're losing consumer interest, which Nintendo seriously needs. Nobody's going to stand around that long to give your console a chance.

"If your demo machine can't do anything for over 2 minutes, then you're losing consumer interest"

Seems that the number of RROD 360 kiosks didnt sway people from buying one.

Consumer interest is way more than a demo kiosk. That is just a very small part. the majority of consumer interest is driven by how much marketing is provided. TV ads, magazine ads, promos from fast food places.

Not that many actually make the decision to purchase a system based off the time they play at a store demo. The buy because they either want to or are convinced that it will offer them something that appeals to them.

A 2 minute reset might not appeal to you but it certainly isnt a deal breaker for me.

So what's the big deal? You just find something else to do, while you wait for it to boot up. I can do a lot of things in 2 minutes....just ask my wife.

DivineAssault 4198d ago (Edited 4198d ago )

dude i doubt the take home product will be that long but, would u seriously not care about something like that if it were? Thats ridiculous cuz my damn PC doesnt even take a full minute.. Now the point of this demo station is to get people to like it, not walk away

Sp1d3ynut4198d ago

Don't look up....but something just went over your head. :o

Griffin48714198d ago

Yea, I admit that's pretty damn bad.

AO1JMM4198d ago

No video? I'd like to see this boot for myself.

Griffin48714198d ago (Edited 4198d ago )

If you actually clicked to read the article, you would have seen a video link.

AO1JMM4198d ago (Edited 4198d ago )

Not on N4G there wasnt and now it has been fixed so thanks for your 2 cents.

"If you actually clicked to read the article," he said.

That means going to the website to read the article, not this little page here.

Reading comprehension is your friend.

On topic, I don't think this is a big deal for a demo unit. It might be a little more bothersome if the normal console is the same, but even two minutes isn't that much of a wait.

jnhinsd4198d ago

Agreed, Poster should have posted the video on here as well. Good call.

I think it's better to leave games like AC: Amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash forgotten on the Wii U. Best case, they are mediocre games; worse case, they are very bad. It was a dark time for the Wii U, and the first only exists to sell Amiibo cards, whereas the second was put together in a couple of months with a shoestring budget, and it shows.

The rest of the list does have some really cool games, though. I would love to see a remake of Star Fox Zero with decent controls, and Xenoblade X doesn't require that much modification to work.

How would XCX work without dual screens functionality?

Cacabunga2d ago

Same as Paper Mario color splash. One of the best wiiu games and getting even better with dual screen. Same reason why i prefer Splatoon 1

This article leaves out Nintendo's most controversial game to date devils Third.
I personally found the cover system really fun in that one compared to at the time most fps games completely lacking one.

Stevonidas2d ago

Devil's Third is HIGHLY underrated.

They should remake Starfox to the switch 2. Very beautiful game during gamecube days.

Kirby is always ignored or forgotten by people, so good to see it mentioned here.
Play Kirby Canvas Curse on DS, and then play Rainbow Curse on Wii U, they're really fun and unique 'platformers' without any actual jumping.
