A Final Fantasy by Any Other Name Plays Just as Sweet in Bravely Default | 1UP

1UP: "Despite the title, Square Enix's latest import release is pure, classic Final Fantasy."

LX-General-Kaos4196d ago (Edited 4196d ago )

After seeing a few of the extended gameplay videos I had the same view of this Nintendo 3DS entertainment system exclusive. Bravely Default looks to be a jrpg done properly.

Bravely default is very much a Final Fantasy inspired game. The earlier traditional Final Fantasy titles before they were inspired by western development. A traditional turn based battle system to compliment the old school majestic feel. Which I appreciate very much.

The Nintendo 3DS entertainment system is slowly becoming the official home for traditional jrpg titles. Just as the original Nintendo DS entertainment system had accomplished before it. I am looking forward to more positive news, and gameplay videos from this Nintendo platform exclusive. My hat is tipped in favor of Square Enix for doing the right thing.

Rated E For Everyone

Am I the only one that doesn't like the character models in battle? It's like FFIV on DS. It's just impossible to take seriously when they look like that...

most of the time JRPG's are more about the charm than the seriousness anyway. They could have been way worse though... But to be honest, I love the art-direction in this game.

Oh no the art style looks great, I just don't care for the look of the character models is all.

hkgamer4195d ago

i guess its just the art style is so that you can see the face or look of the character more clearly.
loving the art style of the towns, looks amazing. i am guessing this will become a new series because of its name. otherwise they would have just called it final fantasy and have another sub series to confuse people.

hopefully more of these jrpgs wil come out and will also be available on the vita. otherwise i would have to buy a 3ds

This game must have A TON of content to look like that.. I feel the same with disgea on ps3/vita.. It looks like ps1 graphics but theres so much in it that its understandable to a point..

Yeah, I'd love to import the game. Especially since Square Enix has no plans to bring it over.

Oh, wait--Nintendo region-locked the 3DS.

Oh, well. Maybe I'll just import Type-0 on my Vita. Especially since Square-Enix has no plans to bring it over.

Oh, wait--Square Enix doesn't put any of its games up on the PSN store.

Where can players go after Octopath Traveler

Octopath Traveler really blew up, didn’t it? The Nintendo Switch exclusive became a top eShop seller after launch and physical copies were so rare, Square Enix was issuing apologies and asking people to please consider a digital copy if they could not wait. It is a fun RPG to spend 40 to 60 hours playing. But, what if [a player has] already finished the game? What if [they] are ready to follow some new stories?

You aren't finishing this game in 40-60hrs... maybe one or two of the eight character's individual stories.

No where. Traveler has now set a bar that the current Switch library will struggle to reach. High hopes for Fire Emblem and Meteoid both being able to match or surpass it.

I would love to play a VR rpg with this style of graphics!
