5 reasons why Gears of War: Judgment will disappoint (and 5 reasons it won't)

This is the only Gears game I just cant get excited for. Gears 3 ended things nicely and this just doesnt interest me really. I'll get it when it drops in price

Took the words right out of my mouth! I'm so incredibly meh for this game. It won't disappoint me because I'm not excited for it.
I wish they'd taken the time to make a new IP instead of just cashing in.

Why would they waste resources on a new IP this late in the generation? Obviously most of Microsoft's first party studios have been working on next gen games for a while now.

I'd rather get the next great franchise on the Xbox 720 to be honest. I want to see something new on new hardware that impresses me the way Halo CE did with the original Xbox or the way Gears Of War did with the Xbox 360.

I'm happy that we are still getting these huge AAA blockbuster games this late, Gears Of War Judgment is a great way to send off the Xbox 360 into the sunset in my opinion. Most people originally bought a 360 for Gears and now we end the generation with a new Gears that tells Baird's story.

Its the same thing with God Of War Ascension, I'm always down for some God Of War, its clearly a way to get those fans to buy one last God Of War game on PS3 before the PS4 comes out.

I don't fault either company for doing that, I love good games, and lets be honest, more Xbox 360 owners are going to be happy with a Gears Of War title, as opposed to some niche new IP.

The only Gears that disappointed me was 2. And that's where I left it. If Microsoft, who I'm currently speaking with, actually makes good on my 16 months dead 360, I may check out 3 and Judgement. Gears is a great series. Until then...wait for it to be released and played before you pass... Judgement! <sputter>Gah - bad jokes!</sputter>

Got a good point. Judgement is a little too soon. I loved the original Gears to death, and 2 was pretty fun. I didn't care for 3, it didn't look like a Gears game to me. I won't be picking up Judgement, too burned out on this series.

I'm not interested in Judgement and I couldn't care less how it does in sales. People that are indifferent about this game might just not like shooters, or are moving on to something else. What you wrote doesn't make any sense, but I'm guessing this isn't the first time since the word "wack" is in your vocabulary.

1) Well the pre-orders for the game are terrible at the moment in the USA (It's by far biggest region) with it's biggest competition in March 2013 a.k.a. God of War: Ascension massively ahead.

2) look at the hype for Gears of War: Judgement, it's almost non-existent, not ever Gears of War fans care anymore.

3) I was a huge Gears of War fan, bought all of the games day one and have the Gears of War 3 Epic Edition (Awesome statue by the way), but Gears of War 3 was very disappointing to me and a lot of other people, the multiplayer was better than ever but it had a very weak campaign.

So no, people aren't saying they're not interested because of how it'll affect the sales of other games because it'll be the worst selling and lowest rated (still highly acclaimed though) Gears of War game yet and God of War: Ascension will easily outsell it anyway, especially if it has the same growth as GoW2 (4.2m) to GoW3 (5.3M+) which would make GoW:A reach 6.4m+ lifetime.

I'm sorry if it upsets you that people don't care for the release of GeoW:J but it shouldn't bother you, if you're still interested in it good for you but don't fabricate reasons for others being uninterested just to reassure yourself of your own opinion.

"Who preorders in this day in age?" I still do because i want the game day one and walmart and best buy(mine at least), rarely carry anything but mainstream popular games.

And their selection isn't as large as gamestop's is, for most mainstream releases preordering, probably isn't necessary but if you like certain niche titles it's either gs or online.

That and gamestop is maybe 5-7 minutes in traffic for me, best buy 20+ depending on how bad traffic is.

I don't like the way, the title is worded that implieds first hand knowledge, which short of a dev/tester breaking his/her nda, no one would know.

Dude, you really need to read the article. I always hate it when people whine and say that the writer is contradicting him/herself when that's the ENTIRE point of the article. This is what they said before the list got started:

Each reason was going to be focused on positively and negatively. Even if you don't get it right there, it says BAD and GOOD under each section.

well if they are the MOST LIKEABLE Why is that a problem? He goes on to say they cant expand the locust backstory. Ummm yea they can in cutscenes ..doesnt mean baird and cole will know what the player will know.

For the good he comes out and says the majority play the game for MP so story isnt an issue anyway. So why mention it at all?

MP: the bad gears has always focused on team play so FFA and overrun class base isnt that great. The good "It might not be the classic competitive modes you're used to in a Gears game, but it's the next step to making it addictive again"

is the new modes good or bad? If you like teams then play team base modes. Dont see how either mode stops you from the normal game play.

Wait what? Each Gears was better than the last. Gears of War 3 was amazing. Some of the best graphics this gen and a very good story. The online is still some of the best multiplayer around. Horde mode is addicting as it gets.

Gears Judgement looks to improve the multiplayer in many ways. This is a no brainer for real gamers especially those that like multiplayer. Day 1.
