Retro City Rampage | "Reference: The Game" - Review [NoobFeed]

Daav from NoobFeed.com mixes his born love for oldschool games with that of new indie releases in this convergence of both, fueled by pop culture. It may get a bit stale and have control issues, but at least it's worth its weight in entertainment gold.

Why is it just a video of you playing the game for 44 minutes, instead of an actual video review? The written review does not validate the score given to the game either. It just seems like a randomly given score with a game you had minor to hardly any complaints about.

Because I streamed some relevant, illustrating footage and didn't make a video review? I wasn't aware I was due for both. Also, I feel like there were enough drawbacks (mentioned throughout as well), but still warranting a decent score, which shouldn't be too far from the general perception. (Metacritic tells me PC RCR has a 71, seems on par) Though I would be sorry if you think it wasn't reflected enough; I do try to ensure an argumentative, concise piece for all. It would however seem overly critical of me to broaden weaker points, like sloppy controls. Once that point (or any) is laid out, I'd feel like I'd be bashing the game if I'd keep hammering on about it and RCR doesn't deserve that.

If 77 isn't a decent score for you, I'll leave that to your perception. For me, it's still a solid display. Credit where it's due.

I would say RCR controls mimic the rudimentary feel of movement like games in the late 80's/early 90's era. If it's going to have the Retro look, why wouldn't it to have the Retro feel?

10 Genres That Are Missing From the Vita's Library

VGChartz;s Adam Cartwright: "For a console that can only really be seen as a commercial failure, the PlayStation Vita did extremely well for itself in terms of software – more than 1500 games are available for it and that figure is surprisingly still growing each week, despite the hardware being discontinued earlier this year and despite the rhetoric suggesting it’s only a good machine for indie 2D platformers and niche Japanese RPGs.

Unfortunately certain genres didn't receive any representation at all and act as glaring holes in the Vita’s software library. Some of these just aren’t particularly popular on consoles in general, such as city builders, which have been niche for years. It’s these genres I’m aiming to look at in this article – what they are (including examples of some modern entries in the genres), why they weren't represented on the Vita, as well as some suggestions about what alternatives are available to scratch that itch."
