Borderlands 2, Resident Evil 6 keep working the same angles

This is another year of AAA video game sequels, with Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Halo 4 on the horizon for stocking stuffers. But this season has already seen two blockbusters — Borderlands 2 and Resident Evil 6 (!) — and the direction they've taken may foreshadow the tack every studio has adopted for the latest round of titles: Keep meting out the same experience, whether it's stale or not.

Both of these franchises, which are favorites of mine, are suffering from a severe case of the reruns. For Borderlands 2, that's forgivable; Capcom's latest zombie-hunting escapade gets less of a pass.

What no? Borderlands 2 is a bigger more badass version of itself, and is a fun great game. R6 on the other hand is a mess of a game, that I feel doesn't know what kind of game it wants to be. Has some cool ideas and is pretty to look at. But gameplay wise besides being third person, plays very diff from 5, and nothing like 4.

still leon campaign alone is way better than the whole rainbows and sunshine that was RE5

But the other campaigns and...well everything else ? yes the game is a big POS

This is Borderlands first sequel and Resident Evil is on its sixth. Hardly comparable in my opinion.

The thing is, Borderlands IS NOT Resident Evil...It just made me grind my teeth to see the two games in the same article.

It's not a re-run as they note when the last game was made so long ago, and they've worked and added something new to the game but kept the Borderlands vibe to the game :)

I'm really glad to see RE6 is doing really well. Keep it up Capcom.

hmmmmm idk.....

1. revamped ui
2. new enemies
3. new guns
4. swappable skins
5. all new areas
6. much improved story

yes it is more of the same but the sequel fixed all of the real issues with the first so i think its good to go. the author did say bl2 gets a pass though since its the first sequel. i think all these changes were enough to warrant a sequel although i do agree, the next sequel will need at least 1-2 major changes. my fingers are crossed for equip-able armor

RE6, idk even know what to say. the demo was just decent but i suppose i cant really say for sure until i play it
