IGN: The Unfinished Swan Review

Expectations were high from the first time IGN wrote about developer Giant Sparrow. Aside from working on a game that looks like nothing else on the PlayStation Network, comparisons to flow, Flower, and Journey developer thatgamecompany were immediately drawn. Both Giant Sparrow and thatgamecompany sprung from the USC game design program and both were snatched up by PlayStation for three-game contracts. The Unfinished Swan is Giant Sparrow's first game from its deal, and it's nothing short of spectacular.

Another original game on psn. Can't believe Sony funds all these crazy ideas. Day one for me.

Godchild10204208d ago

This is just their first game. Hopefully just like TheGameCompany, I hope their games just keep getting better with each release.

I need to charge my move controllers.

The independent scene is where it is at. I am so blown away by what small companies can do with great support. Congrats on the great review. I am getting this Tuesday. I didn't realize it was out so soon. I have to say, I am freaking ecstatic!!!

You think this is crazy? Hahaha go check out Tokyo Jungle! Only Sony would fund games like that and this :)

This is why I've always respected Sony and I always will. They are willing to risk all in the pursuit of new experiences. They're not swayed by sales figures or executive thinking, they endeavour to please their fans with wonderfully realised games like this.

Year after year they encourage developers to let loose and try something new. They don't restrain creativity and imagination, they embrace it. Developers love working for Sony and it's obvious why. What other businesses do with spreadsheets and data, Sony do with artistry and creativity; never compromising on the vision in favour of selling out to the fashionable market.

Risks come at a cost, but I've yet to see Sony falter because of that. Instead they boldly push on, regardless of sales figures, bringing out new IPs regularly for their fanbase. Their mission is clear to anyone who owns a PS branded console and it's why their ethos endures regardless of how many nay sayers try to bring them down.

Thank you Sony

... anyway, I'll be buying this as soon as I get the dosh!

NastyLeftHook04208d ago

and you get disagrees! lol wow.

Darth Stewie4208d ago

Your 1 disagree is most likely from a fanboy that likes to play the same old yearly rehash shit rather than a new original IP .

GribbleGrunger4208d ago (Edited 4208d ago )

Everyone suddenly got a disagree so whoever did it can't have actually read what people wrote. What age would you put that person at? 10 ... 12? Surely a mature gamer wouldn't do that? I often wonder what they get out of it. It makes absolutely no difference to what is said, unless they actually have the bottle to reply in writing.

I suppose we shouldn't really mock whoever it is. We have no idea what traumas have befallen him/her. For all we know, each disagree could represent a day of neglect and daily ridicule. Perhaps it's the only control he/she feels they have in their life. In which case I offer my disagree gladly and wish them well.

BitbyDeath4207d ago

Would be awesome if people were forced to respond everytime they hit the disagree button.

HarryMasonHerpderp4208d ago (Edited 4208d ago )

Had my eye on this for a while now.
It was either going to be really crap or something amazing.
I'm glad it's the latter! =)
Can't wait to play it.

O_O Thank God. I was hoping this was good. I can't wait to get it!

Sketchy_Galore4208d ago

What? This is out or close to it?? I thought this was months away from release, that's why I hadn't been checking up on it. Sweeeeeeet.

FanMan4208d ago

this Tuesday for plus, a week later for the rest

showtimefolks4208d ago

While front page of n4g has a article on how Sony doesn't have big exclusives I don't know if bg means selling 10 million copies but some of the psn games are real gems and more people shuld get to play them

Like flower and journey etc,

This is a day one for me since it's different and IMO a price of art telling a story

Cam9774208d ago (Edited 4208d ago )

Price? This looks great.
Edit:
£11.99
