GB writes: Someone needs to have a stern word with today’s Japanese role playing game makers. The thing is, the people who play traditional Role Playing Games are the same people who played them at the height of their popularity, two generations ago. People like nostalgia, but the haze of time makes us remember things with rose-tinted glasses. I was a big fan of the JRPG in the PlayStation era, and I have been hoping that they could one day be returned to the lofty heights of their glory days. All they need to do is update the old formula for a modern audience, much like the recent Fallout games updated an old series for a new generation of battle-worn gamers.
Final Fantasy 7 has come back under the spotlight thanks to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is it worth replaying the original?
Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.

Rise of the ronin sold twice as much as Dragons Dogma 2 this week...but no articles about that. It's only news if a PS exclusive is being outsold.
I don't know about JRPGs, but GamingBolt need to die, that's for sure. This article is so stupid, I don't know how I finished reading it.
This console gen didn't need to be so resource heavy, profit driven and focused on FPS mechanics. Companies like Atlus ans NIS that have come out positively by keeping to their small fandom, keep to the PS1 level gaming that they knew until they felt ready to move on, where Square went too big and forgot themselves.
Nope, they're good the way they are.
