Is Your Xbox Live or PSN I.D. Secure?

Guest Anonymous Writer for Nerd4Sure.com - "Whether or not you have a PSN ID or an Xbox Live account, the fact of the matter is that your gaming persona and in many cases your wallet is in jeopardy. Over the past few years both Xbox Live and the Playstation Network have come under attack by hackers and while most have been thwarted, it is still a cause for concern. The infographic below really helps to present the importance of having a strong password.

How long would it take hackers to break your password?"

Is your Yahoo, Gmail (Play), Netflix, Three, Amazon, E-bay, Paypal etc etc etc I.D. secure...

NO!! not if your not careful, same as for your Credit or Debit Card deatils or even you whole Identity.

Be Careful, be sensible, be aware!

banjadude4207d ago (Edited 4207d ago )

Yeah, I personally check my credit card/bank account excessively. Can't be too careful in this day in age. In fact, my daily "rituals" involve spending a few minutes to hours checking almost all of my online accounts.

LNDCalling4207d ago

As should everyones, but I bet they don;t and I'll include myself as one at times! :/

I was playing with a guy from Microsoft and he said he needed my id and password to do ruiting maintenance. He said for my trouble he would give me 10,000 MS points. I haven't received them yet,but I am still waiting. I also can't get into my account now. They must still be doing work on it.

PS3ROCKS4207d ago

Well my password (73;00@9142$/? Ha take that hackers.

ChunkyLover534207d ago

I have different passwords for all of my email accounts and since I have 8 different PSN's I think I'm good. My one Xbl account is hooked to my main email which gets a new password every 2 weeks, usually randomly generated.

I also use a very specific email program which weeds out all those phishing attempts, when I check my spam folder I always get messages saying "We have important account information regarding your Diablo 3, Runescape, WOW and XBL account" They always want me to "send them all of my information, including my password".

I always wondered how people could be so stupid when it comes to scams like this...

banjadude4207d ago

Curious, why 8 different PSN accounts?

Also, I used to get those fake WOW e-mails sent to my G-mail account... when:

1) I don't even have WoW
2) If I did, I don't register game stuff to my Gmail.

lol.

ChunkyLover534207d ago

Ya, I don't actually have accounts to those things either, which is a dead giveaway.

I have 8 PSN's for a few reasons.
1.Japanese account-so I can get certain things only available in Japan.
2.EU account-So I can get exclusive EU things only available in EU.
3.Six US accounts, one main account, one troll account where I team kill, one account for knifing only when I play games like COD, one account for learning new maps so I don't damage my K/D/R and one account for cheating/glitching.

Sounds douchey, but I don't know a single person who doesn't have at least 3 accounts. When they gave out free games for the PSN hack, I got like 7 games!

banjadude4207d ago

Oh I see.

Thanks for the reply.

Nope, any service could be hacked.I don't keep my credit card info on them anyway though.

Xbox 360 Turns 18: Three Cheers to Live, Halo, and Red Rings

The Xbox 360 launched in North America 18 years ago, and is now officially old enough to buy you a drink in Europe.

darthv72149d ago

Great platform, and many of its games (not bc) still hold up well to this day. Like the PS3, I keep a 360 hooked up for those games you can't play any other way.

The last gasp of greatness from XBox, you are missed, except the RROD that was lame, but amazing exclusives until the Kinect dropped.

TheBrainZ149d ago

So many brilliant games. I still have one stored somewhere.

LG_Fox_Brazil149d ago

I really enjoyed my X360, some great exclusives on it. Used to play the shit out ot Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, two masterpieces

I remember when Live turned five and they had special edition controllers made and everything. Kind of wished they would do that again for the 20th.

Orchard520d ago

Happy Birthday. OG XBL (and later 360 XBL) really revolutionized online gaming on console.

Crows90520d ago

Never understood the obsession with live...but I was gaming online on PC so not sure too much of what live did that the PlayStation didn't.

Profchaos520d ago

I had a PS2 and it's online experience was fine but it didn't have the same level of polish voice chat never worked for me but I was trying to play from Australia where not many people played PS2 online to the point where many devs simply dropped the online mode from the pal version.
That's not all PS2 games mind you there were plenty that worked perfectly but it was more on the dev and not the platform

During that era I also played a fairly large amount on online PC games and they were undoubtedly better than both systems. PS2 from functionality and Xbox because it was free

Playing my friends original Xbox it was a really polished experience it felt robust yet simple things just worked there was zero config.

Crows90520d ago (Edited 520d ago )

Yeah but the time ps3 came the experience was the same on both based on what I played...not too much online though to be honest. But I do think that the xbox did help bring online into the console space a lot. As well as PC games to consoles.

Profchaos520d ago (Edited 520d ago )

Today would of been the perfect day to drop halo 2 the original bc version free on gwg.... If only
