Why Capcom Remade Okami

IGN - IGN talks to producer Natsuki Shiozawa.

Okami is one of the most beautiful games ever realized. Released in 2006 for PlayStation 2, it’s coming back as a HD re-release for PS3, with Move support. Shown at Gamescom and at TGS, Capcom’s game puts you in the role of a wolf-god with an artistic ability to recreate its surroundings, using a paintbrush and calligraphic skills to swish through an ancient world.

Q:Why Capcom Remade Okami?
A:"Through the use of HD technology, we are able to bring the true Okami experience to a whole new generation of gamers, and that alone warrants the development of this game."

- besides cashing in on this IP,was hoping for a sequel.

.... before they let the talented group of developers go, and decided to focus on pure GREED instead of QUALITY instead.

It's a game that deserves a HD-release. Priced at a greedy 20$,

which is high for a HD-port of a relatively unknown game (as much as we all love it, not that many gamers outside of fora and magazines know about it), I doubt it will get the audience it deserves.

It's a shame how Capcom has fallen so deep and has stabbed their own fans in the back so often for a couple of extra dollars.

well this game came out in the end of ps2 life cycle before ps3 came out
so it didnt shine as much as it should have because a lot of people were already moving to next gen

i myself completed it and is a excellent game that deserves attention

I for one think if they are gonna add the controller support on ps3 they should port it on the xbox 360, since it would reach a bigger audience. I love this game and it deserves a huge fanbase.

why you have disagrees i dont understand, Okami should be enjoyed by all gamers no matter the platform. but the ps3 extremists think they are some sort of special because they love Sony.

on topic, this game will make me turn on my ps3 again since UC2. it's a really great game. should be enjoyed by all.

to extract more money from it's consumers?

George Sears4211d ago

I want this on my Vita so badly as well.

Well, there is a vast array of credible reasons. For example, to get even more money, to please old fans by releasing the same thing, to imply the release of a sequel (?) or just to see it in HD.

Also, it is a HD 'remaster,' not a 'remake.'

I had no idea Binary Domain was backwards compatible. I know what I'm downloading.

I would like El Shaddi, Afterburner Climax, and outrun 2 please. I am sure that there are other games as well but those came to mind for me right now.
