In a perfect world, there’d be enough cans and bottles of PepsiCo’s Mountain Dew soda to go around this fall. But Mountain Dew had to choose between Microsoft and 343 Industries’ Halo 4 and Activision and Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops II this year. Master Chief emerged victorious in this battle, but analysts expect Black Ops II to win the sales war when all’s said and done.
Hanzla from eXputer inquires: "If Xbox can care about preserving its games and legacy, what exactly is wrong with Nintendo, trying to kill game preservation single-handedly?"
Ahh yes the good old game preservation of saving all your games to a removable hhd on the Xbox 360, taking it round your mates house, setting up multiple tvs to
Be met with “save data corrupted, please re download”
Or how about removing 360 games
From the store
, download them now or else, and, better hope to god that save data doesn’t corrupt, or it’s lost for ever
Nice one ☝️
This is just a scammy PR move to distract from the fact they are going digital only and trying to push streaming and subscriptions only.
No gaming company has pushed harder to remove ownership than Microsoft.
Without discs there is no preservation, preservation can't be done by the rights holders it can only be done by the consumers, anything else is a lie.
Nobody wants this. Sales or the lack of it in the case of XBOX is very telling. I wonder how the adorably all digital series X will fare. Adorably dismal perhaps?
Only time will tell, but for from someone like me suspecting that Xbox is trying to gracefully exit the console market, that "forward compatibility" team is trying to get Xbox games playing on Windows PCs. I mean, it's nice that they're not planning on exiting with a "enjoy your games while the hardware still works" message, so that's nice. They still have a brand to protect via Microsoft so probably feel obligated to have a better exit strategy.
Following the Wii U and 3DS servers being taken offline, Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and Ghosts are officially dead.
Call of Duty players are jumping into Black Ops 2 for the final time before its Wii U servers go offline for good.
We can't just stand by and let this happen! This gives the southern states an unfair advantage in Halo 4.
Because Halo 4 will need it more since everyone will be playing CoD instead. I don't like either one but it's obvious that CoD will be the top shooter around that time.
but analysts expect Black Ops II to win the sales war when all’s said and done,
Hey Dumb-ass analyst could it be due to the small fact that COD Bl Op 2 is multi-platform game & Halo 4 is a console exclusive.
Actually Pepsi has had a long-standing relationship with promotion for Halo games...so this doesn't surprise me. Plus, Halo comes out prior to Black Ops 2. It makes more sense to go with Halo 4 than Black Ops 2- they'll get their money sooner.
And I love Halo (and consider it more entertaining and just overall much better than COD) but clearly, Black Ops 2 will have more sales because it is every system + PC. Halo is strictly 360...which is fine by me.
Halo is also a massive title that fans are awaiting. Black Ops is one of the many annual CODs released, yeah it's popular, but Halo 4 is long over-due. It's the biggest exclusive for the 360.
good news this year Black Ops 2 will sell better on the PS3 and WiiU.
