XCOM: Enemy Unknown Demo Out Now On Xbox Live

Dealspwn.com reports: "XCOM: Enemy Unknown is bloody brilliant, but if you don't want to take my word for it in our 9/10 review, why not try it out for yourself? A demo is now available on Xbox Live if you're a Gold subscriber, giving you the chance to sample its rock-hard action, strategic choice and controller-friendly interface.

As far as I know, a similar demo is slated to hit [the European] PSN tomorrow."

Great. I was checking this out. Sounds interesting.

Yeah this has been on my Radar for a long time, I know it ****s on XCOM fans but whatever, a good game is a good game

GillHarrison4214d ago

You're thinking of XCOM (2K Marin FPS Reboot), this game is a remake of the original X-COM with classic strategy style gameplay.

I assume this is the same linear, tutorial demo they relased on PC? It doesn't really show off the actual "game" too well - always the problem with tutorial levels...

Downloading now.

Game looks good. It kinda reminds me of the game Full Spectrum Warrior.

Gonna have to give this demo a go!

Don't see too many RTS games released these days. Looks interesting, but the game looks hard.

Ducky4214d ago (Edited 4214d ago )

It's not an RTS.

Turn-based strategy mosacra.

ChunkyLover534214d ago

That is what I meant. My bad.

game is epic cool, on pc at least, just finished the first hour and a half and am loving it.

if you have intrest in these types of tactical games, its a great way to get your feet wet, it is nowhere near the complexity of a game like shogun 2 or Crusader Kings II, but it is FAR more complex that 99% of console titles and would be a nice addition to any gamers library!

XCOM: Enemy Unknown - A Welcome Rebirth

XCOM: Enemy Unknown rebooted the series back in 2012, and has since inspired numerous new strategy game series to be born.

If someone gets into this I'd recommend getting the enemy within version. It's got all the dlc included so it's the better version. Wish the author would've atleast mentioned it. I didn't see it.

Fantastic game though. Xcom 2 is top notch also. I've spent countless hours in these games.

Excellent game.
Played to death on PS3 years ago.

What other games were inspired by this game?

JL2930177d ago

Gears Of War Tactics, Phoenix Point. Many others.

shinoff2183177d ago

Phoenix point if I remember was created by the original xcom developer or something to that affect. I did try gears tactics some months ago and I just couldn't get into it. It's probably just me

JL2930176d ago (Edited 176d ago )

It was, but it was really closer to the newer XCOM than the older ones. Gears Tactics was okay but was hard to get into knowing there probably wont be a sequel.

Ten Best Tactical Mobile Games

There are few things more gratifying in gaming than skillfully turning the tide of a conflict. And few genres provide as many opportunities to abruptly reverse the odds via skill and forethought as tactical strategy. To be sure, we are more often than not talking about turn-based tactical mobile games, specifically titles in line with the iconic landmark series (XCOM and Jagged Alliance) that made the genre a genre.
