OXCGN's Dishonored Review: Best New IP in Years

OXCGN

"Created by the masterminds at Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda, Dishonored can only be accurately described as a beautiful, evocative masterpiece."

gaminoz4210d ago

I'm so glad to see that this game is as good as it looked to be.

I can't wait to play it and I hope enough people buy it to show that new IPs that are quality and offer something interesting and fresh are supported!!!

da_2pacalypse4210d ago

Support new IP's everyone. These guys are taking a huge chance doing something so unique and out of the box, please reward them for it and get us out of this stalemate of FPS games!

Nimblest-Assassin4210d ago

Hopefully their metacritic is over 85, so the guys at arkane get a bonus.

Seriously, if you are going to put hours of your time into creating a new, unique game, you deserve more in your paycheck, regardless of what reviewers say

wastedcells4210d ago

Well said, I'm with you... Support great fresh new IP's so were not playing blockbuster sequel after sequel every xmas season. High score and " Best new IP in years " wow! This game looked dope but I did not exspect this kinda of praise. It's getting 9's all kinds from all the big sites.

DeusExer4210d ago

Glad to hear that there is a lengthy narrative after hearing reports of people completing it in 4 hours.

I have high hopes for this game. Can't wait to pick up my copy this week.

The best thing about it is that new IPs continue to shine through the sea of sequels.

BadCircuit4210d ago

Yes and EA said that it was silly to release a new IP this late into a console cycle.

Hopefully this proves them wrong!

Eske4210d ago

I had heard that the guy who beat it in 4 hours did so on easy mode, non-stealth, without doing side-quests.

So I wouldn't put too much stock into that.

gaminoz4210d ago

I think he just wanted to rush through it to say "I did it in...". Anyone who explores and takes the time to play it creatively will probably find lots to do.

Open games always can at least have the possibility of longer gameplay...not like the hand holder linear corridor shooters that are about the same as they are intended to be.

BadCircuit4210d ago

This game is said to have a lot of replay value, so I'm not worried about that report.

SAE4210d ago

if that's the case then 4 hours is great :)

Belgavion4210d ago

Everything I hoped and more

BadCircuit4210d ago

Yes oh yes. I can wait for Call of Duty. I can wait even for Halo 4.

This is something fresh and with so many ways to play it...I can't wait for it! I was so worried it wouldn't live up to expectation!

GrathiusXR4210d ago

Fresh is what I want and fresh is what I'm getting finally. It was starting to look like the gaming industry was turning into Hollywood rehashing and remaking :D

gaminoz4210d ago

Yes exactly. I think that the current gen machines can still produce great games if devs tried to use them for some new stuff instead of just rehashes.

I hope risk is rewarded for Bethesda and Arkane here.

Burning_Finger4210d ago

meh.. looks like a cross game between bioshock and assassin creed. nothing new.

GrathiusXR4210d ago

Except you can play this game how you want unlike games such as AC3 or Bioshock which have no effect on the over all story etc...

urwifeminder4210d ago

Yeah i agree and will pass cant handle stealthy games.

The Magic of 'Dishonored’s' Blink

It’s a shame, really, that so few games have “borrowed” Dishonored’s Blink – in the right hands, such a power could be game-changing.

It felt kinda cheap to me… both in terms as a tactic, and game design

Abnor_Mal425d ago (Edited 425d ago )

There was a small game called Aragami that “borrowed” the blink, that was a good game.

Unfortunately I heard the sequel wasn’t good so I stayed away from trying it out.

sairenfox2099423d ago

The sequel changed some of the mechanics from the first game but it was still a very polished and enjoyable experience. You should definitely give it a shot sometime. The game's currently on sale on Steam

Abnor_Mal423d ago

Okay thanks for the heads up, will look out for it being on sale one day.

I really did like the first and played it back to back as soon as I finished the first play through.
